I want to add chinese subtitles to a film I have edited in FCP.
    4.5.
Is there any way I can type/import chinese characters into the text generator for superimposing on the timeline? I know how to create English subtitles but am unsure as how to get Chinese characters on there.

I have a Chinese friend who would translate and type for me. If necessary he could create the Chinese text outside FCP for me to import – but what program should I choose?

    Many thanks for any help.

There is no trick to it really, the Mac has inherent support for this. Just open your friends Chinese text file into Text Edit or some such and cut and paste into the text generator as needed.

Thanks for the reply. I have a document displaying Chinese characters in TextEdit. However, I am unable to paste it into FCP’s text generator – paste option is greyed-out. Is it possible to paste into Text Generator – if so how ? I don’t have Boris Calligrapy installed, if that makes any difference. Sorry to appear so unknowledgable.
