Hit the little arrow next to the layer to get to the Transform attributes. The layer must be 3D to access the Z data.

Your not running the most recent version of AE CS4 for windows. You should be on 9.0.2.
Run the adobe updater or download it here

    i am running adobe 6.5
If your on CS4 your AE version should be 9.something
in AE go to the menu item “After effects>about after effects.” to see your version number.

how do you find out if there are rgb colour space

Open the image in Photoshop. Go to Image>Mode make sure this is set to RGB. What type of images are you working with?

i don’t know what you mean by operating system
Your Windows or Mac operating system. For example Snow leopard on a Mac or Windows 7 on a PC.

you have at least one output module template that refers to a missing output plugin. please check your Output module templates
i don’t know if this has anything to do with it but it’s been driving me crazy pease help

I have received this error before after removing a piece of hardware that uses a codec dependent upon the hardware being installed. Such as a blackmagic video card. Have you had any recent system changes like that?

What version of AE are you running? (ie 9.0.3?) What’s your Operating system? What type of
photo’s are you trying to import? Are they in RGB color space like AE requires?

November 29, 2010 at 10:28 pm in reply to: FCP to AE export advice

There is a free script by Popcorn Island that will do this

    https://www.popcornisland.com/2009/03/final-cut-2-after-effects/
I have used it with CS5 and FCP 7 and it works. For me it
crashes when I try to bring the audio over so I don’t use that
    option.

If your looking for more bells and whistles there are two commercial products that I know of
Boris XML transfer and Automatic duck. These apps will include a lot more manipulation/effects to be transferred with the clips. If your just looking for cuts only the Popcorn island script works well.

I agree with Shane you need a broadcast monitor to evaluate such things.
That aside, After effects may not be interpreting your PR422 material correctly
    depending upon the version.

Here are some important notes about PR422/AE in Todd Kopriva’s blog-

If for some reason you need to you could also delete the audio track in Quicktime player, although it would be a one at a time tedious process if you have a lot of files to do.

With the video open in quicktime hit CMMD+J (I assume windows+J on a pc?)
Select the audio track and hit delete. Resave the video. No recompression applied.

November 10, 2010 at 10:33 pm in reply to: Video Output

    my mac output full 1080p
through a HDMI adaptor as a “second monitor” but can’t
route after effects video preview through the same channels??

Correct. But it’s not really an AE limitation. Pretty much any editing/compositing application (Final cut, Avid, Premier, motion, ect) are all going to require a video card with video i/o capabilities to get a video preview.

An option would be to use your TV as your second monitor and then just arrange your windows so that only the preview appears on the second monitor.

I have used firstcom.com for several years. There rates are generally pretty comparable to other companies. Killertracks is another popular large library.

October 28, 2010 at 11:01 pm in reply to: Render with a transparent background?

When you click on the toggle transparency grid button can you see the transparency grid?
If not then your not going to get an Alpha chanel because there is no absence of information there.

Have you thought about just sending them the AEP if they are going to take it into After Effects anyhow? If your not using any footage that file would be much smaller. If you are using footage you can use the File>collect files command to put it all in one folder for you.

You might get slightly smaller results from the PNG codec. It would be minimal if it was. From what I understand of your project Animation is probably the best choice for it though.
