Hi mate,
I think the bubble simulation is too basic to achieve this.
If you have Particular then you can attach the particle emitter position that to a null object and track that to your animation.
If you don’t have particular then you can do the same using CC Particle world which will give you a good result.
Also is there not a particle emitter in you 3D package?
Hope that points you in the right direction.

Cheers Dave,
It’s a problem I have encountered before in motion graphics, obviously that’s way more controllable though.
Oh well it looks great 50i and 50p which I think has narrowly avoided a re-shoot… thank god.
Cheers for your help mate.

Cheers Dave,
Unfortunately there is camera horizontal movement in the shot which is creating a vibrating/flicker effect as high contrast objects move through it. I am assuming this is a shutter speed issue as everything in shot is super sharp. At 50 fps it looks acceptable however using your method and every other one I have tried this flicker is way more pronounced at 25.
However, because the shot was shot at the the wrong speed I was able to export the advert at 50fps and it looks great. Don’t suppose you know if a 50fps video can be used for internet use? I’m unsure whether websites that host content convert footage to a different frame rate or keep the frame rate from the source. I guess I will have to experiment with that.
Thanks for your help though it’s much appreciated.

Sometimes I get artifacts when I have motion blur on some layers and not others and they are in the same z position. Do you have motion blur checked on all your layers? If not turn it on and see if that helps.

You could try using Force Motion Blur instead which gives you the option to increase the amount of samples.

Is your project set to 32bpc? It does make a difference when handling video in After Effects so would be worth a try I reckon.

Always loved that Walking Dead Video… After Effects at it’s best.
I would look at using Light Wrapping which is generally used to comp in green screen elements but should work for this as well.
Tutorial below.

Good Luck.

Hi mate,
There will be a better way of doing this but if you are rotating an object around a null you could apply the following expression to the objects y Rotation.
transform.yRotation-thisComp.layer(“Null”).transform.yRotation
Just insert the name of your null where it says “null” in the expression.
You will have to rotate your layers y axis individually so they all face forward properly. Also this will only work if the anchor point is centred to your object.
I’m sure there are much better ways to do this but that’s my fix.
Cheers,
Andy

Old thread I know so I’m sure you have finished your project now. However, by chance I came across this earlier which may help someone in the future.

Hi mate,
Been a while since I used Duik Ik but I think you get that message if you do not have the bones and controller highlighted in you timeline when you push the Create IK button. Also I seem to remember you have to highlight them in the specific order of hierachy moving upwards.
I don’t know if that helps but let me know how you get on.
Good luck.
