Congrats ….now update your profile 🙂 Totally agree with you the Sideways sucked! I got halfway through and took the DVD back…yawn!

Now onto the editing part of things:
How many realtime layers are you getting with Adrenaline?
    SD?
    HD?

Does it handle HDV yet? Oh wait, that is not coming out for a while, so unfair to ask right now.

How has your overall experience been with Adrenaline HD? It is on the radar of an editor friend of mine as a replacement for his FCP system.

Now back to being a happy Monkey 🙂

My screen did that in the begining (flash bricks, then fine) and I adjusted the sleep settings to never. Then I started to get the screen grabs I posted and the machine would lock up. You might try posting on the apple website if you dont get any more info here.

I feel her pain. I went through the same experience when I jumped to the so called Mac never has problems world.

So does it look like this?

If so, you need to take the computer into the apple store and have a few things replaced:

    Graphics card
    Ram
    Motherboard

At least that is what Apple did to mine to fix the problem.

    Hope this helps

    Walter,

I checked my trash can after running the software update and install. Inisde the trash were all the packed updates in a folder call apple software updates. Myabe you can burn them to cd and take them to your other machine that is not online.

Come on…live dangerously for a few minutes and run an ethernet cable to that machine and update it 🙂

  • You might want to read this thread on the apple FCP discussion list:

    https://discussions.info.apple.com/webx?14@672.z89Wad9cYDF.0@.68b24d63

    The topic is called:
Solution to camera recognition problems after upgrades.

It seems to apply to Firewire decks as well.

    Hope this helps.

Round tripping from FCP 5 to STP is broken! Watch out for corrutption of your video clips if STP crashes. The only way I have found to bring the specific audio into STP or any other Audio program is selecting in/out of your clip, saving it as a quick time or audio file, then importing the media to STP, clean it up, then take it back to FCP and drop on another aduio line.

Hopefully Apple will break out another release and fix these issues.

Good and bad points of making the upgrade to FCP 5. I totally agree that Sound Track Pro does not work. I have not put FCP 5 through a rough edit just yet, only basic projects using DCVPRO HD, BetaSP and DVCAM. I have lost work when making a round trip from FCP 5 to STP. So for now, I just don’t trust it. Like the newwsletter states, I might just go back to 10.3.9 and not use QT 7 as my system was pretty stable in that configuration.

Michael, sorry if you thought I was busting your chops…..I was not. I meant to ad to the post that I would read up on the QT problems you linked in the previous thread, but hit post direct before proofing. If I am going to blame anyone, then Lacie is my first stop. Blame the weather…..bah…to many fires to even enjoy the sun out here 🙂

Seriously, I’ll read up on the Quciktime link you posted and give it a try. If it brings my drive back to life, I owe you a beer at NAB 🙂 I have not been able to get my Firewire Lacie drive back up since the first week of my Tiger install. And yes, I have contacted Lacie about it. Repair permissions etc., was their response. Which I did numerous times during the install and after the drive failed. I think it is time to give up on them and move to another proven solution.

I upgraded to Tiger without any firewire drives, ISite or AJA IO attached. One of my Lacie drives then stopped mounting after the upgrade. I have managed to get the Lacie drive back for about 24 hours to copy stuff off, but after the reboot, it was gone. Hmmm, who do you blame now?? Qucicktime 7, Tiger, Apple, Lacie.
