Have you set up your preferences to use the system line out audio vs. AJA Kona card? I have over 20 edit systems with Kona cards and we use the system line out audio in OSX preferences and the audio never disappears in Premiere. If you have AJA Kona selected for Output in Audio preferences of Mac OS and AJA Kona set in Premiere for output you are going to have audio disappear. AJA has a tech support doc on this, but I cannot locate it at the moment. Try running the audio out of the Macs line out jack into your mixer and reconfigure your Premiere settings.

  • Sorry to hear you are still having issues Brian. One of our 6 core new Mac Pros was having issues and I ended up taking it into the Apple store. The logic board was replaced and few other parts and its back in production without any problems. Have you taken your 12 core into Apple to see if they can help diagnose it? Having 12 cores and D700’s and using software mode is painful to see!! Have you gotten in touch with Adobe or Apple?

What version of Premiere CC (2014 or 7.2.2)?

Is that a new Mac Pro or old Silver Tower?

What IO hardware….. AJA or BMD?

Have you checked your preferences / audio hardware to make sure you are routed correctly?

Is Enable Mercury Transmit box checked in Preferences / Playback?

  • 10.9.3 was a nightmare due to the AMD drivers. Once I upgraded our new mac pros to 10.9.4, things have run smoothly. I have one new mac pro upgraded to 10.9.5 and will start testing with it next week. If you are using AJA gear with your new mac pros, get in touch with AJA Support as they have some new beta drivers to deal with some of the audio issues I was seeing with the Io4K and Premiere.

You can make a feature request directly with Adobe here:
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&loc=en

Maybe you could use a modifier key when you drag clips to the “new” icon to tell Premiere these items need to be in separate sequences.

    Peter,

Are these same issues applied to the io4K as well? One of our editors is using the io4k on a 4K project and the audio is horrible when Transmit is enabled in Premiere. Do you recommend going back to 10.5.1 on the io4K as well?

Came across a uninstall article that has some great steps to follow for anyone wishing to roll back your CC install.

Agreed, I should have included the cleaner tool in my post. I should have asked what OS you were running as 10.9.3 was a problem for a lot of people and just upgrading to 10.9.4 or 10.9.5 fixed a bunch of issues on our new mac pros.

If you want to go back you need to uninstall all your Aps. After you uninstall go to the creative cloud ap and choose previous version and click on the ap install button to reveal previous versions.

What version of Adobe CC? 7.2.2 or CC 2014?

Have you upgraded Boris CC recently? They had some updates to address some of the issues with OSX 10.9.4 and CC2014. If you have not applied the updates, try those and see if you see a difference.
