Thanks John. You’re probably right on that one. I’ll give that a shot, but unfortunately it’ll be a long process due to some software dependencies that are only licensed for 10.9.5. I’ll need to purchase the upgrades along with updated OS and MySQL in order to have a functional system again.

Thanks John. Seems like that is the issue. For some reason it won’t start. Scouring forums for a solve… trying reboots, reinstalls, and permissions.

January 26, 2015 at 10:01 pm in reply to: Rorke Tech Support Leaves me Stranded

    Hi Michael.

I happened to stumble upon your post while I was looking into upgrade options from our three Aurora LS units. If you were not aware, a year or so ago Rorke was acquired by Avnet and around the middle of last year Avnet decided to dissolve Rorke, thus all hardware was declared end of life. Full into is on the release I linked below. So that is why you haven’t been able to get a response.

I was recently in a pinch this month as we had issues and were up the creek without a paddle. I was able to track down one of the former tech support guys at Rorke that I had worked with. He has started a new company and has brought much of the knowledge from Rorke. Since they are familiar with the Rorke hardware give them a shout. Daryl is who I normally work with. Off-contract support was $175/hour via phone. https://scalelogicinc.com/

Also, check to see what drives you are running. Backblaze recently released more real world data from their cloud servers and I realized that two of our Aurora’s are filled with drives that have a 23.5% annual failure rate. Full article here. https://www.backblaze.com/blog/best-hard-drive/

Also, what is the issue you are having. I’ve picked up a lot of tricks in the 6 years we have been using their gear. I may be able to help.

    Thanks Bryson.

I went ahead and upgraded to version 11. This resolved the issue.

CatDV 10 requires a 32-bit version of Java 1.6 or 1.7. The latest provided via Mac OS updates is 64-bit Java 8.

Any luck on resolving this issue? I just upgraded to a new computer (clean CatDV install, not a migration) and am experiencing the same issue. A reinstall did not correct it for me.

    Mac OS X 19.9.5
    CatDV 10.1.2

July 18, 2014 at 3:21 pm in reply to: TARGA Cine YUV codec

    Hi Corrie,

I was looking for a solution to this issue as well, and since I found one I figure I’d share. I had a few master files that were 10 years old and was experiencing issues when importing them into some asset management software, but I remembered I had been able to view these previously.

Some old threads on the Apple Support pages pointed me towards mention of Rosetta for some codecs that were used during the PowerPC days. After Apple made the switch to Intel processors, Rosetta was the background app that emulated the PPC environment to run those apps. Unfortunately Rosetta was killed in 2007 with the release of OS X 10.7 Lion.

I know you said you were working on a PC, so Rosetta doesn’t come into play here. Your best bet may be to find someone running a version of OS X prior to 10.7.

March 11, 2014 at 3:20 pm in reply to: Studio-Like Setup with 5Ds

    Thanks Johnny.

That sounds like a good solve.

This time around we opted to purchase four 27″ Dell monitors with HDMI inputs. This shoot is not a typical setup for us, as we normally don’t shoot in a studio-like environment. After the week of shooting, the monitors we purchased will end up being used in edit suits that needed monitor upgrades, so this will be a win-win.

So we’ll go from the HDMI out of the 5D MkIIIs, to a 1>4 HDMI splitter. The splitter will feed the SmallHD onboard monitor, the client feed via 100′ HDMI with signal booster, and the director’s feed which will be about 20 feet or less away.

    Thanks for the input!
