Thanks, Bob!
That more than thoroughly answered my questions. I’m excited to get the unit up and running.

One small question… so that’s a 12-bay system. Do the SSD slots need to be filled as well, or what’s that setup like?

Hi, Bob.
Thank you. Very insightful, as always.
I didn’t realize that the 871T had been discontinued. Or perhaps that was the one I was actually seeking, and thought I must have been confused after not seeing it, but seeing the 871. Anyways…
We’re going to go with the QNAP TS-1685 and the 8TB drives. That will be slightly more than is needed at the moment for the system and capacity but will allow for room to expand without buying something that’s overkill.
I appreciate the help!

Performing the update so that I was on PRP version 2.6.4 and FUSE 3.5.4 while running OS X 10.11.6 resolved the issue.

I was able to encode OGG files with Theora video and Vorbis audio via VLC on Windows.

June 29, 2016 at 10:21 pm in reply to: Exporting Closed Captions from Premiere Pro (Format Options)That was my understanding as well. I’ve since been able to do the MP4 and WebM encodes via Sorenson Squeeze Pro 11. QT7 Pro doesn’t detect the CC track, but Telestream’s Switch player does detect it in the metadata. I’m using their free demo for testing.
Now if I can just encode the OGG file.

I’ve used the Unarchiver in the past.
Or perhaps one of these… https://mashtips.com/mac-apps-to-unarchive-archive-files-with-password/

I purchased this from TOLIS back in April. I did receive a driver, but it appears to be the Linux driver.

You can try Disk Rescue or Disk Drill. I think they both run about $100. I think Disk Drill lets you do a test scan for recovery. It’s likely all file names will be lost, but the files may be there. Just depends.
