Is it correct that the “Normally scaled legal video” setting in the config room only effects the HD-SDI output – not the render?

Also, what does the setting on the render page do?

Is anyone using LUTs to scale the renders to 64 – 940? If so I would love to know what settings you are using for your LUT – never made or used a LUT before…..

By the way I have done some tests on rendering out color bars (1080i prores HD) and applying the “normally scaled legal video” setting in either or both the Config and Render rooms seems to make no difference to the render at all. Whether applied or not the quicktime seems to come out exactly the same.

Applying an output LUT in the config room does change the render.

    Hi all….

Really interested in what people grading for broadcast are using – the “Normally scaled legal video” setting on the Config / Project page or a LUT. If a LUT (which I’ve never used before), what settings are you using to generate?

At the moment I’m just using the “Normally scaled” setting, but not sure if this is the best way to go.

Also, why is there also the setting for Data Level / Normally scaled video on the Render page?

    Thx

Resolve is seeing media on the drives and linking to it fine but one part of the interface is refusing to show the drives as available. I would have thought the drives are either available to use or not. I think this incomplete implementation qualifies as a bug.

Thanks for the explanation…..I guess what I would like is the ability to force my own organization onto the ordering of the clips by sorting according to my user generated labels.

    Thanks….

I did some searching on the forum and am wondering if there is an advantage to use an output LUT instead of the setting on the project page of the config tab / Colorspace conversion uses: normally scaled legal video ?

If so, can anyone tell me the settings they use to generate the LUT for HD broadcast safe?

Also, is it true to say that this should fix any lift / gain issues but will do nothing regards illegal chroma problems?

    Thanks

Hmmmm …. Is there any way to get this kind of functionality in Resolve?

  • Lite does support export – I have used the export function to move a project from one Lite comp to another. I don’t know about going from licensed to lite though.
