broadcast safe……
Posted by Andrew Sableton on February 27, 2012 at 11:38 pmIn Color there was the option to set broadcast safe parameters in the preferences.
Does the option under render settings to render “Normally scaled legal video” do something similar?
Thx

February 28, 2012 at 4:28 pmHey Andrew,
You can always…like, guess at where 64 and 940 are (your broadcast safe limits for HD).
But in all seriousness, here’s the best explanation I was able to find for how to set your limits in Resolve:

The main kicker here is that you really need an external scope for it to work with 100% accuracy. Hope this helps.

February 28, 2012 at 4:56 pmThanks….
I did some searching on the forum and am wondering if there is an advantage to use an output LUT instead of the setting on the project page of the config tab / Colorspace conversion uses: normally scaled legal video ?
If so, can anyone tell me the settings they use to generate the LUT for HD broadcast safe?
Also, is it true to say that this should fix any lift / gain issues but will do nothing regards illegal chroma problems?
Thanks

March 7, 2012 at 7:05 pmHi all….
Really interested in what people grading for broadcast are using – the “Normally scaled legal video” setting on the Config / Project page or a LUT. If a LUT (which I’ve never used before), what settings are you using to generate?
At the moment I’m just using the “Normally scaled” setting, but not sure if this is the best way to go.
Also, why is there also the setting for Data Level / Normally scaled video on the Render page?
Thx
