Is your shot locked off (on a tripod)? Is it just a ghost fade, or somehow magical.

If the shot is locked off you could probably dumplicate the part of the wall tha he enters, and overlay it over where he goes through.
Just feather the edges of the wall where he would intercept. You can also use masks to follow and round the edges of the intercepting parts like his hands and body.

The talented fellow Dan Ebberts has a script that might help you out with this. But it’s gonna take some extra work because of the effects you want to achieve.

Now This script can be applied to any elements position. So you need to make an element that is similarlooking to your video clip. so make a layer size it down so that it is thin, and then add a blur to it. Optional addition: Key frame the size from the beginning to end to expand the width to add some extra movement.

One your done pre-compose this layer, Composition-Pre-compose leave all attributes… then Alt click on the position stop watch and apply his handy script, then duplicate the pre-comp layer useing CTRL+D and if you need offset the time so it starts at differn’t times in your comp. Once you do this you can put this finished comp inside a new comp and time stretch it about 400 percent so it’s smoothe and slow, also don’t forget to turn on the continusou rasterization switch so the animatin is smoothe. Its the one that looks like a sun star.

Change the transfer mode and you should have something cool. You can also make multiple instances of this and squeeze one down and stretch the other out so it give differn’t sizes too.

Try this
In the pre-comp with your illustrator turn on continuous rasterization and the 3d switch.
Then in your main timeline turn on continuous rasterization for the pre-comp but don’t turn on the 3d layer switch.

One way to think about it is…
If you use a 8bit effect you will limit the color rendition of that state to 8bits. Now if you add an 8bit effect to a video, for example, then add a 16bit glow effect, the glow will generate colors with the full 16 bit space. Keep in mind the reverse of this applying a 16bit glow will yeild 16bit color space but if you add an 8bit effect on top of this you will knock it back down to 8bits.
