Well hours on your ccd will far outlast your recording deck so I doubt it would be a terrible thing. Now Using your batteries wouldn’t be good so stick with the ac.

Viewing the tranparency and rendering transparency are 2 separate issues. To render with transfarency you need to use a codec thats supports alpha.

When rendering check to see if the channels are set to rgb plus alpha. Quicktime animation is a popular method. I tend to use PNG sequences for most things.

Capture DV using a Firewire card. To capture using the card from a dvd you may need a converter to take your video signal and audio into the sdi input. Remember your source is already compressed. aja tech should know what converter you need.

Rhett, my thoughts exactly.

2 other things I tried to do is rotate the charachter forward (counterclockwise) to make it seem like he is shoved forward. Then put a little bit of camera shake to make it more impactful and of course good’ol motion blur.

Also just off camera is the car driving forward so that his pants light up as the approach is made.

Remember to lock the camera down on a good tripod.

Run the cartoon effect on your footage before you pull the key. Then process it through illustrator. then with an instance of the original layer, use keylight to pull the key and then set the result to the screen matte. use this layer as a track matte to you cartoon layer and they should match up and leave just cartoon footage. keeping in mind frame and speed changes in order to match the movement correctly.

chroma sub-sampling. In keylight go to the screen mode and change to hard color and then make the replace color something closer to the original background color but mostly desaturated and grey. you should not have spill but hopefully get rid of the noise.
