I cannot see ANY signal coming off the analog outs — SD or HD, nor can I get any analog audio from or to the card (I have no means of testing digital audio). The SDI/HD-SDI outputs work fine (525/720/1080). These I am monitoring via an HDLink and LCD panel. Everything was tested with a test pattern in the control panel, and also via SMPTE bars playback in AJA TV (to test the audio). I do not know if it is a bad card yet. I think someone at Aja may have to make that analysis. Hope this clears it up!

this is what you will do. Do not ask any more questions until you do this. You own a PVM-14L5/1. This monitor will display an HD signal via analog component HD. You will put up the color bar test pattern in the AJA Control panel. You will take the Y Pb Pr signal out of the Kona LHe, and stick it into the PVM-14L5/1 analog component input, and select component on the front of the TV. You should see your color bar signal on your TV monitor (DO YOU SEE IT).No luck yet. And yes, I know how to hook up my monitor to the Kona via component. This is the way it has always been hooked up. Remember, I’m just trying to fix something that worked perfectly fine before.
OK, now, go to the FORMAT tab in the AJA Control Panel. Is it on 525, or 1080, or 720 ??? I bet it’s on 1080 or 720. Change it to 525. There is a PRIMARY AND SECONDARY in this Format tab – make BOTH PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SAY 525. Now put up that control tab color bar test pattern again – do you see color bars? I bet you do – and if you see a scrambled signal, it’s because your FORMAT is selected to 1080i or 720p, and not 525.I have tried all formats – 525/1080/and 720 – both primary and secondary. I have experimented with just about every setting in the control panel. I am beginning to think it’s a hardware issue.

All of my tests up to this point have been using Aja TV with a bars/tone clip loaded into it (and other clips). I haven’t loaded FCP. My monitor is a PVM-14L5/1 via component. I know it’s hooked up properly so there is no issue there (I also checked the cable by playing some footage off my UVW-1800). Even though I haven’t gotten analog out to work, I tried sending some footage from the Beta deck into the analog input, monitoring off SDI. All I get is a jittery blue/green crazy screen. So it appears none of the analog ins or outs are working. Again, SDI out works, but that’s a direct connect to the board (vs. breakout cable).

What build of HDLink are you running? Also, I’m using the same setup. I’m curious how you calibrated your Eizo. Did you use something like cineSpace to put a 3D LUT on the HDLink?

March 4, 2008 at 6:41 pm in reply to: “The effect XXX cannot be rendered in a sequence of this size with the current graphics card”Just got off the phone with Apple tech support. It appears the issue had to do with the fact that my project was upgraded from a 5.0 project file. We created a new sequence with the same footage and applied those same effects on them and had no issues. He told me they generally don’t recommend upgrading project files, which was news to me. I’m going to check to see if this is what is causing my sync issues as well, but that will be a time consuming test that will have to wait for now.
Thanks for sharing your experiences,
Andrew

Kristian,
I’ve temporarily posted the Autodesk and Iridas LUTs at:
https://andrewdp.com/autodesk-iridas.zip
Please let me know once you’ve fetched it.
The HDLink utility won’t recognize the .itx file. It sees the .3dl, but when I open that I get “Could not read lookup table file. The selected file was not in the expected format.” I am opening it via the “Load Table” button. This is using version 2.5, and it does recognize it’s a 3D box as I get the other 3D output curves.
Thanks,

Hi,
I also just received an HDLink Pro. I’m trying to import .3dl and .itx cubes, but the HDLink utility won’t recognize them. I changed the extensions, but then when I load it blacks out the output. I opened them in a text editor, and it appears the format used to create LUTs in the HDLink utility is different than the .3dl and .itx. Is there a conversion program or other trick necessary to make them work?
Thanks,

[Sean Donnelly] “Is it possible to export DaVinci or other formats directly from the software, or would I need to find a way to convert them? “
I spoke with a sales rep about this very thing. I was asking if they were going to support of the 3D LUT formats that cineSpace could generate, and he said:
“the HD Link Pro will support many popular 3D LUT formats.. we’ve got the Autodesk up and running, as well as a few others that are not on your list.
We’ll have a more comprehensive list once the units ship, this list is
tentative and is subject to change, but this is what I’ve been told, so take
that with a grain of salt.”This is before I realized that RSR is creating a 3D LUT format for this box.
I’m interested to see what the HDLink Pro utility will look like. I would expect there to be HSL controls of secondary colors per the 3D LUT format. Anything will be welcome over the limiting HDLink utility and its lift-gamma-gain controls.
