HDLink Pro 3D lut format
Posted by Martin B. wehding on February 11, 2008 at 10:23 pmHi
We just got our HDLink Pro.
Because we intend to use it with 3D luts I have been looking around for some info’s/documentation on formats and third party formats.
We have cinecube(space) as well. Can that be used for generating 3D lut’s for the HDLink Pro?
Anyone got some experience to share on this early stage:-)?Regards

February 12, 2008 at 6:26 amHi Martin,
The current LUT formatwe support are Discreet’s 3dl and Iridas CUBE (.itx).
We don’t support cinecube as yet but we can look into it.

February 13, 2008 at 2:02 amHi,
I also just received an HDLink Pro. I’m trying to import .3dl and .itx cubes, but the HDLink utility won’t recognize them. I changed the extensions, but then when I load it blacks out the output. I opened them in a text editor, and it appears the format used to create LUTs in the HDLink utility is different than the .3dl and .itx. Is there a conversion program or other trick necessary to make them work?
Thanks,

February 13, 2008 at 3:58 amHi Andrew,
Could you let us download the LUTS you’re using?
The LUTS created by the HDLink is not .3dl or .itx so it will look different. HDLink Pro currently only imports 3dl/itx but will not save the LUT in that format.

I’ve temporarily posted the Autodesk and Iridas LUTs at:
https://andrewdp.com/autodesk-iridas.zip
Please let me know once you’ve fetched it.
The HDLink utility won’t recognize the .itx file. It sees the .3dl, but when I open that I get “Could not read lookup table file. The selected file was not in the expected format.” I am opening it via the “Load Table” button. This is using version 2.5, and it does recognize it’s a 3D box as I get the other 3D output curves.
Thanks,

February 21, 2008 at 9:19 pmI’m having problems with 3dlut import as well. From discreets format. The popup infor on the import tab says the file should have 1024 records, discreet 3dlut has 4015 (or there abouts). Anyhow, one of main reason for getting this box (hdlink pro) was for support of 3dlut import. How do I get my .3dl formated lut into the hdlink pro.

April 19, 2008 at 5:31 pmHi, Kristian.
Maybe it is properly idea to publish right LUT formats on blackmagic-design site?
After all, no strangers here – just write us link to one correct 3D LUT – and there will no more stupid questions.
