I’m planning on ordering an hdlink pro (if I can ever find one), and I’m curious about the file format of the LUT’s created by it. Is it possible to export DaVinci or other formats directly from the software, or would I need to find a way to convert them?

    Thanks,
    -Sean

Sean, did you ever get an answer on this? I’d be curious to know.

Not yet, although I should have my box soon so I’ll find out no matter what. I’m guessing it is a proprietary format, since the controller software for Panavision’s GDP offers hdlink as one of the formats for LUT import/export.

I spoke with a sales rep about this very thing. I was asking if they were going to support of the 3D LUT formats that cineSpace could generate, and he said:

“the HD Link Pro will support many popular 3D LUT formats.. we’ve got the Autodesk up and running, as well as a few others that are not on your list.

We’ll have a more comprehensive list once the units ship, this list is
tentative and is subject to change, but this is what I’ve been told, so take
that with a grain of salt.”

This is before I realized that RSR is creating a 3D LUT format for this box.

I’m interested to see what the HDLink Pro utility will look like. I would expect there to be HSL controls of secondary colors per the 3D LUT format. Anything will be welcome over the limiting HDLink utility and its lift-gamma-gain controls.

Just got my HDlink pro from B&H. Looks pretty good so far. The utility is the same as the latest one for the standard HDLink, but when a pro box is connected 3 new tabs appear, 3D red, 3D green, and 3D blue. Each one has the same interface as the 1D panel, which is still available. Essentially it works like the matrix controls in the panavision gamma utility with the added ability to adjust the curves for each variable.
