In this post Dan Ebberts helped me out with the position of a precomped object. I don’t understand how he understood my question but his answer works! ..although that one might be tricky too:
L1 = comp(“Crane”).layer(“Hook”);
P = L1.toWorld(L1.anchorPoint);
L2 = thisComp.layer(“Crane”);
L2.toWorld(P);crane would be the precomped layer, hook the object therein.
I’m still struggling, but it works! -
Freeform is included since CS5, and according to the stats, man in question has cs6.

Depending on the look of the blowfish I would use nulls parented to the blowfish’s body, then use the compTo expression to tie the spikes to the nulls. I made a quick experiment to try it out.. and thought it looked better when I added a bit of increase of scale to the spikes.
I’ll just attach my li’l project for you!

Don’t know about particular and getting that right, but couldn’t you get this shape done with Freeform?

How Curious!
Are the layers correctly placed in 3d space?If nothing else, a work around would be to pre-compose the needle with its track matte and link the nested animations with expressions. That way you only have to take care of one layer in 3d space..

I recently had a problem tracking: The tracker was all over the place despite any motion. Turns out the problem was due to the video being compressed with h264 and there’s no intermediate frames to track(?).
The solution was exporting to a ..lossless format and track that.
I know this reply is way to late (but I don’t know if there’s a rule against it) but maybe it will help someone in the future!

Thanks to a tutorial on Creative COW I just found the solution to this problem ( I think!)
under File> Consolidate All Footage
and it reduced all instances of the same file to one!

Final expression that I used:
First comp was named cubo 01.. then duplicatednombre=” “+thisComp.name;
nombre1=nombre.substr(5);
layerNo = parseInt(nombre1);
src=comp(“valores-colores”).layer(layerNo );works like a charm!

Oh thanks! Seems as you replied justa as I found the information..
In the end the comp names when duplicating have turned out to be “0 50, 0 51, 0 52, 0 53….” But I guess I can find my way around splitting it up and only using the last 2 digits.

Seems like I may have gotten it:
myInteger = parseInt(myString);
Didn’t know about the parsing term and find it generally a bit tricky to find information on these things.
is this Javascript? And do most javascrips ..functions work in AFX?
