    Hi Harm,

Thanks for the inputs. I have a few more questions regarding the same aspects.

    1) When you say sufficient handles, you mean that the clips have sufficient trailing and leading edges for an overlap, rgt? And then what , I use cross dissolve. The clips are entirely different. So if there is anything else that I must consider please suggest.

    2) I use the Adobe media encoder , and it has various frame sizes for various PAL options. I know specificcaly PAL is 720 X 576. But with these options I am little confused.

    3) It is a WMF(wmv) because I choose so in the media encoder. Should I be choosing something else.

    Please suggest.

    Regards,
    Anand

    Hi All,

I just started my read about the elusive(at this stage for me) film look. I read the posts like
    a) Film Look
    b) Professional look ,etc.

The bits I have gathered from there are which will result in the film look are as below:

    1) Exposure Latitude
    2) Lighting
    3) Telecine process
    4) Frame speed
    5) Film and Camera quality
    6) Talent , rated as high
    7) Unreplaceable – Experience
    8) What you want, is how you shoot?

As a novice, if you ask me I am thouroughly confused. I am reading and doing hands on just to gather the experience. But lets rule out the high end stuff which costs a lot for a moment. I don’t have exposure to that , atleast as of now.

I am looking for help and views from all with regard to low end handycam which records say in mini dv. I do not have choice of shutter speeds , I have very few options of say 24/30 fps, frame speed.

Now things that I can work with are lights and post production AE and Premiere Pro CS3. Hence I am looking for basic suggestions , like Leo provided.

    Frame speed: 24fps
    Exposure : 180
    Lighting : ????
Post Production : De – Interlacing and ????
    Any other suggestions : ????
    Any other posts/links that I should do a read on : ???

Please understand that I am looking for is little direction from the experienced. I am still learning , so I am writing in capacity of my knowledge only.

    Regards,
    Anand

I understand that , but after it gets converted to tape and i am assuming tapes of 35mm would differ than a 16mm, how does finally get converted to digital. And the theatres they get the tapes rgt, how are special effects added to them.

I am mean from my little knowledge effects can get only added to digiatl format and they maybe reconverted to tape, is that right?

I used the Hue/Saturation effect. I did use the interpret footage with the help of scanline matte. I will try the settings your are suggesting and will get back.

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi,

I learnt how to interlace. Now the footage looks so much cleaner. Ofcourse nothing close to a film but then I can’t be greedy as a novice.

    Appreciate your help.

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for your inputs. I meant just a moving image background, mentioned the matte by mistake.

I got the problem. I was placing the simple clip on top of the bluscreen clip and hence the problem.
