Basically, the G drive is a 2TB External HDD. Formatted to NTFS. There is barely anything on the video anyway so the max. file size I expect is around <2GB. Currently changing permissions and I’ll update on how that goes.
Hmm… I have a hunch it’s something really stupid and odd. I’ll get back to you on my theory after I test it out. Hopefully I can offer a solution to other people with this issue.

Hmm… No. It’s set to Gourad Shading. I realised that R14 was released and got the update for that and on there, it seems to be fine in there. Odd. I’ll remember that for the future though. Thanks.

I’ve literally been having the same issues but I don’t have the K-Lite codec pack. I have a video and I need to watch the whole thing flawlessly because I’m going to be talking and all that over the top. I’ve closed all programs and processes (which are not important and that I know are not important) and still nothing. It was captured using Dxtory (an alternative to Fraps), using the Lagarith Codec. It was recorded at 1080p (16:9) @ 60fps. No issue in sound or when using RAM preview. I just can’t watch it without the frame rate dropping to around 1-19. It doesn’t stay still either. I did try something else with Fraps, using their codec (no idea what and I don’t know how to change either. It’s a very linear software) and I have no idea what’s going on. This is a new PC with Vegas Pro 12 and I’m having no luck. I’ve been using vegas for a while and on my old, really bad, PC, I was “Shift-B”-ing all over the place but now, it should work. NOTE: This isn’t just a small clip I can “Shift-B”. Here are my specs:
i7 3770k
32GB RAM
Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 7950
2TB Internal Storage (Split into 2 partitions and on 1st partition containing OS)
1TB (USB 2.0) External Hard Drive
2 x 2TB (USB 3.0) External Hard Drive (connected by a High-speed USB Hub that is connected with it’s own power source.)
2 x HD BenQ Monitors connected to GFX Card.I’ve just included anything I thought of incase it makes a difference.
Any ideas?

Okay I’ll keep that in mind for future projects. Now I have a question. What codec should I use that compresses the video a lot because I need to render it as quick as I can but what codec should I use. This is going to be uploaded on YouTube anyway so it doesn’t need to be perfect quality but I need it to be pretty damn tiny because my upload speed is rubbish. Normally Xvid is around 400mb – 700mb depending on the size but is there a codec that will make it really small but a relatively good quality. I’m probably asking for the impossible but is there anything close that can do as I need it to do?
Also, why not Xvid. Why is it so bad?

Okay thanks Dave. I have a question. Why am I shooting myself in the foot. What difference does it make? I’m just wondering.
Unable to do anything until the weekend or later in the week but thanks for all your help and I’ll report back on how it goes.
BCC is processor-intensive but I was curious that, when rendering, no more than 8% of 32GB was being used. It was odd. But thanks anyway. You’ve been a great help and I’ll through Xvid out the window.

Just gonna suggest something but it might not work. If you have the graphic and stuff you want to use, position it where you want and then use a mask to get rid of the bits you don’t want. I’m new to AE so this may or may not work.

I’m using the adjustment layer to make life easier as I didn’t want to add a Gaussian blur to every image layer as it would have got annoying.
I don’t get what you mean by “give yourself a LOT more RAM and processors for things other than AE”. Do you think its better if I turn off the multi-core processing thing and leave more RAM for other applications? How this this help? (just curious).
BCC8 is CPU intensive but it does a good job in what it does. Does what I want it to but some of it is a bit complex. Though, not as complex as the Trapcode series or pretty much anything from Red Giant. Well it is for me.
What codec do you think would be best? I normally use Xvid and render as a .avi? Do you think something else will be better?
I’m okay with rendering for a long time but I’m baffled as to why AE is only using about 8% off the total RAM to offer. Nothing else is open too. Nothing CPU intensive (not chrome or any other programs. Just the basic Windows processes to run and AV).
I’m gonna need to use Trapcode Particular and Form soon. Maybe even Sound Keys. Do you know anywhere I could look to get some insight into how to use it? Thanks.

Thanks for responding. Sorry in advance for the messy-ness of my reply. Okay, so:
I have no idea what a media container is but this is what I do know:
The footage is basically a video for my youtube channel. I make dubstep mixes and this video is different that the others because it’s a collaboration for someone else so many more effects and images are being used. I’m using many images and effects (from BCC8 with Beat Reactor). Each track has its own image with effects on and there are 11 tracks (and 11 images). Each image fades in and out by changing the opacity and by animating a gaussian blur on a adjustment layer on top. However some images have been split and masks are on them. In total, there is:
– 1 mp3 file
– 2 adjustment layers
– 1 black solid
– 1 comp (which links to another comp elsewhere)
– and 16 image files (as individ. layers)As I said, BCC8 has been used because of its “Beat Reactor” feature. Each image has 1 or more (maxiumum on 1 image is about 12) effects on it. The first has 12 (all BCC Rays Ring) and similar for the rest with similar light effects. Image 2 and 6 has an addition particle effect on it. Image 2 uses BCC Snow but no light effects and Image 8 uses around 4 BCC Light effects and a BCC Rain effect. In total, the video is 0;50;35;11 long (90971 frames @ 29.97fps). No 3D is being used and this is being done in 720p. Let me know if you need to know anything else. There are a lot of effects being used but I don’t think it’ll limit it down this much. It should still use more RAM than 8%, shouldn’t it?
