Maybe it is just my TV but somehow these settings for max volume seem to sound distorted!

What settings? I watch the master bus and make sure none of the volume goes into the red. Should never go above ‘0’ from what I understand. I keep most of my settings to -.03. After doing the above tips, it plays fine on my TV.

From what I understand any red is clipping and in digital audio clipping is a no-no.

Inuse the Panasonic MQ and PQ series only. Have had no problems and Panasonic gives you an extra 3 minutes (ie; 63 and 83) per tape.

Like was said above. Stay with the same brand.

    Thank you
That’s what I figured. Track level vs event level. Yes, That’s the only thing on the track. I create seperate tracks for each seperate item.

1 track for video unless I got overlays which I don’t on this one. 1 track for my logo ‘bug’, 3 or 4 tracks for text boxes as needed, 3 or 4 audio tracks. Voice overs on their own track as is audio track from the video and background music on its own track.

Thanks. Had a wonderful time at your web site FAQ’s. Not only did I print the one you sent me to but also found about how to do PCM in the optimizing window.

Also that you like 2-pass vbr which I’ve been using as well as Best setting for my render because this one has a lot of both video and very large stills with Ken Burns effect.

I’ll have to send you and Gary a copy of this one too.

    Thanks again

    Thanks Ed.
I’ll go look. But since this is a rather short video, 35 minutes, I was thinging of trying PCM audio but I tried that once before in DVDA-2 and couldn’t seem to do it. Only choice I had if I remember correctly was AC-3.

So Rendering to AC-3 sets all volume to some default setting no matter what I set in the timeline of Vegas?

Is it MPEG-4 maybe? As far as I know, you can’t edit MPEG’s in Vegas. I may be wrong though but I tried it before and no go.

August 7, 2005 at 1:26 pm in reply to: defrag before burning master?

    Hi
I’ve been using Perfect Disk by Raxco. It also does offline defrag of the MBR and swap files when it re-boots. Don’t know for sure if Disk keeper does that. And at last check, Perfect disk was the only one “approved” by Microsoft for large HD’s and XP. You can also “set-it-and-forget-it”.

    https://www.raxco.com/

Early on I use to get error messages when trying to render my time line. After a lot of research, I determined that Vegas was ‘asking’ me to defrag he hard drive. Don’t ask me to explain because I can’t but now I always defrag before rendering to the final medium and I don’t have any problems.
