Opacity or Composit envelops?
Ha! Got video on track 1 below. On track 2 above I got my logo ‘bug’.
Up until now I’ve been using the composit envelop. But what about the opacity level settings? Do they basically do the same thing?
My logo bug is monotone and meant to be in the lower left corner of the video transparent. Just barely seen. It looks 3D as it moulds into the video. Sort of a copy protection feature.
So what choice would you use then? Opacity or composit envelops?

You could use either – the composite envelope is track based – applies to everything on the track, and opacity can be varied over time by double clicking to insert pivot points and dragging up or down. Event opacity only applies to that event and stays the same percentage throughout. For a logo, being a single event I would just drag its top down to whatever level was required.

If that’s the only thing on that track and the opacity needs to be at a constant level, I’d probably just adjust the “Levels” slider on the track header.

That’s what I figured. Track level vs event level. Yes, That’s the only thing on the track. I create seperate tracks for each seperate item.1 track for video unless I got overlays which I don’t on this one. 1 track for my logo ‘bug’, 3 or 4 tracks for text boxes as needed, 3 or 4 audio tracks. Voice overs on their own track as is audio track from the video and background music on its own track.
