Not sure I understand what you’re saying. I’m reading that you have 2 video files. 1 has audio and the other doesn’t?

Did you render in Vegas using the DVDA template?

If you have a video with audio, you must render that twice. Once for the MPG file and the second time for the AC3 audio. (you said aa3?). Both must have the exact name but different exctensions.

When you open DVDA and drag your video into the project, the audio will automatically follow.

Okay finally got to that part of this project. I needed a scrolling credit and bouldn’t set the stock Vegas scroll the way I wanted to, so here’s what I did and it works beautiful. Haven’t rendered to MPG yet though.

I brought up a regular text box and put all my text for scrolling in there. I always set the box sizes at 1440 X 960.

After getting all the text set I put the text box on it’s own track and used the Track Motion to set the scroll. Wound up setting the keyframes to Linear for the best even scroll.

I still got some tweaking and color corecting on the B-roll stuff, then I’ll run the DVD. It’s a music video of sorts, 1 set of a band playing about 11 songs, each will be a chapter.

I didn’t use a graphics files for text. Didn’t need to. Just the text media.

Yes. From my own personal experience you’re better off doing the DVDA (Mpg – AC3) render in Vegas if your video is less than 90 minutes.

If you’re approaching the 2 hour point then I’d render to AVI in Vegas (1 render) then let DVDA figure it out. There’s a check box in DVDA render that says “fit-to-disc”. Rather than messing arond trying to figure bit-rates.

I did that when I had a 2h 5m video to get onto a DVD and DVDA did a wonderful job figuring it out.

What are the original files?

I’ve had great luck using the following:
Render to Mainconcept AVC/AAC (*.mp4)
Default template and click on custom.
Check (include Video)
Frame size 1280 x 720
Field order (None – Progressice scan)
Pixel aspect 1.000
reference frames 2
VBR Max = 8,000,000
Average = 5,000,000
Check include audio
Sample rate 48,000
bitrate = 128,000

Start with those.

Also I belive if you right-click on each photo, you’ll see “switches”. Click on that and check the “reduce interlace flicker”. That should smooth them all out.

I’m not working in BlueRay however any time you render for a DVD you need to render twice. Once for the video and the seond time for the audio. they have to be separate files but both with exatly the same name. For example, rendering SD I usualy first render the video to MPEG-2 (mpg) using the DVDA template. Second render for the AC-3 audio. You should have 2 files to bring into DVDA.

Do I understand you’re on a laptop with only a 120gb HD and 1.5gb RAM? Is that your editing computer? I hope not.

Do you have an extra HD for your video files or is everything on your C drive?

Also have you cleaned out your computer lately? temporary internet files? Temp files and the like? Have you defragged lately?

Usually a computer slowing down like that means one or all fo the above.

Well I don’t know what to offer. I winder if it could b3e in your MPEG settings.

I’m having the same problem where I need to do what you did on a scrolling credit because I can’t seem to size the standard scrolling test the way I need.

So I’ll suscribe to this thread and when I do mine I’ll get back to you. Hopefully this week.

Maybe one of the other guru’s will jump in here.
