scrolling credits stutter
Hi, I’m a newcomer to the site, and have been working(struggling)my way through Sony Vegas Pro 8 for the past year. I want to customize graphics for scrolling credits and they’re long, so I created a png file w/transparent background to play over a video clip, size is 300 dpi 720 width and the length is something like 9800. I set the keyframes – linear to slow, and selected reduce interlace flicker. All looks good when rendered as an avi, but when it gets rendered to the final mpeg it stutters, not a lot, but enough to be noticeable.
I didn’t like using the credit scroll in Vegas, looked much worse for some reason.
Can anyone help?

I believe that 300dpi may be too much. Have you tried 72-150 dpi on the fonts?Allen

I’m still at it, I tried to lower the resolution of the file, from 300dpi to 150 & 72. But I could see a loss in quality when I did that. I rendered it at 300 using the divX codec, and that worked even better for the .avi, but when I render to the .mpeg the stutter happens again. What am I missing? Help!!!

Well I don’t know what to offer. I winder if it could b3e in your MPEG settings.
I’m having the same problem where I need to do what you did on a scrolling credit because I can’t seem to size the standard scrolling test the way I need.
So I’ll suscribe to this thread and when I do mine I’ll get back to you. Hopefully this week.

Okay finally got to that part of this project. I needed a scrolling credit and bouldn’t set the stock Vegas scroll the way I wanted to, so here’s what I did and it works beautiful. Haven’t rendered to MPG yet though.
I brought up a regular text box and put all my text for scrolling in there. I always set the box sizes at 1440 X 960.
After getting all the text set I put the text box on it’s own track and used the Track Motion to set the scroll. Wound up setting the keyframes to Linear for the best even scroll.
I still got some tweaking and color corecting on the B-roll stuff, then I’ll run the DVD. It’s a music video of sorts, 1 set of a band playing about 11 songs, each will be a chapter.
I didn’t use a graphics files for text. Didn’t need to. Just the text media.
