Won’t I be losing all my resolution advantage that way ? Would it be better to cop it first, then drop it into an sd timeline ?

The HVX200 only has 1080p or pa, no pn. I’ve read that pdf many times before but it gives no helpful specifics.

Yes I went back and reshot to make sure the media is indeed 24. I’m using 5.1 and It does not support 24p. If I am wrong about this I would love to be able to read about it somewhere. Thanks for your help.

FCP does not support 24p and I think that the way they have supported 24pa is probaly a short term thing. taking out the extra frames on import and then adding pull down that I can clearly see in the timeline.

I don’t think that is the case. It does not yet support 24P. it does add a pull down as far as I can tell. It is as if you had tecined your film. I’m open to suggestions but now it is playing beautifully !

I figured it out…FCP applies a pull down to the footage, that is why the 29.97 fps.

    1. create new project
    2. use easy setup and select Blackmagic HDTV 1080psf24-DVCPRO HD
    3.Import P2 w/remove duplicate frame selected

At this point in my bin I have sequence 1 at 24fps but the clip is at 29.97. I know that when I check the file in camera it says 1080pa24.

I import the files and remove duplicate frames, In my bin they read as29.97fps intead of 23.98. I’m using the dvcpro hd 1080 23.98 setting in the easy set up but when I try to load those settings to the sequence settings the QT compressor setting goes to 1080i50 instead. when I try to playback the video stutters. Help !

  • I will miss him on this forum and look forward to finding him at his next destination. I also feel that it remains to be seen if red is a competitor or simply a different segment of the market.
