How can I downconvert my 16×9 720p footage to4x3 sd without black bars top and bottom ?

Drop the footage into an SD timeline and adjust the size…then render. Push in until the bars are gone. You will lose the picture on the sides..

Won’t I be losing all my resolution advantage that way ? Would it be better to cop it first, then drop it into an sd timeline ?
