Hi Eric…

If you look at the After Effects timeline…

There are clips,

they are positioned in time on the after effects timeline in the right places…

but the in’s and out’s of the sources are wrong…

not sure if it’s consistent or random

Suppose I should do some window burn clips as a test…won’t be back on an Axio until at least tomorrow…

This has happened to me on multiple machines….so I know it’s not just a machine config issue…All of it has been under CS3 though.

Hi Ann,

While can get this to work with DV material,

Yestrday’s test indicate that I am having the same trouble with

Matrox MPEG 2 I frame HD and Matrox DVCPro HD codecs.

Perhaps I’m doing something wrong?

Test I ran yesterday indicate that I have the same issue with MPEG 2 I frame HD and Matrox DVCPro HD source material under CS3.

Your thoughts?

I thin you are missing one step….

Drag the sequence icon from the Project Panel to the source viewer

and then try to make sub clips from the source viewer to the Project panel..

If that does not work…then well…I suppose you’d likely have to export your Timelines as new clips….

then you could make sub clips from the new media

Hiya…

Your post is a little unclear…

so you are:

1) Making a sequence
2) Putting separate Audio and video on to the timeline
3) Loading Sequence into the source viewer
4) Marking IN and Out
5) Dragging from Source Viewer to Project panel

What happens next?

You get the video only?

Or you get a clip, but Premiere won’t export it properly for use in Pro Tools?

Edit the original video to the timeline…

then lay the audio on the timeline

export…

Hi there….

I’ll take a guess that there is mismatch between the Type of audio you have and the type of track you want to mve it to.

PPro can have Mono audio tracks (one speaker icon)
and stereo audio tracks (2 speaker icon …looks like a bow tie)

My guess is that you have a stereo clip you are trying to move to a mono track.

You’ll need to add more mono tracks using the Add Tracks Dialog to create and position the tracks on the timeline the way that you want.

Once you do that you shuold be able to move the audio between the same types of audio tracks without difficulty.

Yep…I think we are on the same page (heh, heh).

The thing is, why is it not a big deal on a clean build…and it is a big deal on a system that has some miles on it?

Should I perhaps put the page file on it’s own physical volume that I could reformat every so often?

I would love to move to CS4…but based on Matrox and Adobe working some things out….I’m still likely to stick on CS3 for a while.

On the same topic…as I recall a lot of cameras still have a “tape emulation mode” so you could control and digitize from them in a traditional manner. In this case wouldn’t the clips have some sort of Rec Run time code?

I only mention this, as some might choose to capture rather than import so they can transcode to friendly codecs on the way into the system….

With a clip loaded into the source viewer, mark and in and out and then choose make subclip from the Clip menu.

This function can also be mapped to the keyboard.

Should be pretty quick to split up a source for ya…
