HDV round trip PPro AE Problems….

Alex,

I’d say either capture your HDV as I-frame MPEG, or convert and replace in Premiere before pasting into AE.

I think AE CS4 is a bit better at handling HDV than CS3, but it still is going to do a better job with frame-based media.

Now that Matrox has come out with their 4.1 beta drivers, which support accelerated export through AME, there is less reason to stick with CS3. I’m liking the added stability and speed of CS4 with 64-bit Vista.

I do my CC through Dynamic Link (replace with AE comp) But is this option available with the Matrox, because it works realy fine.

Test I ran yesterday indicate that I have the same issue with MPEG 2 I frame HD and Matrox DVCPro HD source material under CS3.

Your thoughts?

While can get this to work with DV material,

Yestrday’s test indicate that I am having the same trouble with

Matrox MPEG 2 I frame HD and Matrox DVCPro HD codecs.

Perhaps I’m doing something wrong?

Alex,

So you are saying that the clips that import into AE are offset from the Premiere originals, i.e. different clip in and out points? Does it take the beginning of the clip as the in, or is it random? Is it way off, or is it close?

Are you importing a Premiere project into AE, using Dynamic Link, or copying and pasting between apps?

I don’t think I am having that issue, but let me check it out in the AM. System is currently tied up with an export.

Hi Eric…

If you look at the After Effects timeline…

There are clips,

they are positioned in time on the after effects timeline in the right places…

but the in’s and out’s of the sources are wrong…

not sure if it’s consistent or random

Suppose I should do some window burn clips as a test…won’t be back on an Axio until at least tomorrow…

This has happened to me on multiple machines….so I know it’s not just a machine config issue…All of it has been under CS3 though.

Not much time today, but I’m noticing some wierdness when importing clips with transitions (dissolves, dip to black) screwing up the in points on clips copied and pasted into AE. I seem to heve better luck with cuts staying in sync. The timing seems to be within a second or so, so maybe AE has a hard time calculating ins and outs on transition-connected clips?

I’ll check things out more completely later when I have a bit more time.

Hi Eric and All..

I window burned a clip as

Matrox Mpeg 2 I frame HD and Matrox Mpeg Uncompressed HD 8 bit

I can not get the right frames to come over from Premiere via Copy & Paste.

It always chooses the head of the clip.

I’m kind of out of ideas…..

Hi i’ve just found this posting now and i am having the same trouble. I have shot a wedding using the canon xl-h1 and the main camera and the canon hv30 as a cutaway camera. Both cameras were shooting at 50i and captured from the canon hv30 into adobe premiere CS3 50i preset section.

I am now having 2 massive problems.

1st the audio is way out of sync
2nd once i edit the footage in premiere and use the dynamic link over to after effects then cut and paste the edited footage from premiere into after effects the footage is out of sync too. the cuts ive made are not the in and out points ive cut in premiere.

This is my first real project using HDV as ive just upgraded from the Canon XL2 to the Canon XL-H1. And i dont understand why i cant get the footage into after effects using the dynamic link to ork correctly. I need to add effects etc to the footage and in the past with DV ive never had a problem but now in Mpeg2 for mate i cant use after effects.
