    Hi there…

I’ve not worked with Unity or Final Cut Server in production.

I have worked with Premiere in a SAN environment.

How do you utilize FC Server and Unity? Typical usage and workflows would be useful to understand…then I might be able to make some suggestions…

Do you also set you pixel aspect to 1.33 as noted?

Park at your edit and hit Ctrl D (PC) CMD D (Mac)

or in CS4 Select a rage of clips and choose add transition to selection from Menu.

This will add dissolves across selection.

  • Here is a link to a post I wrote a bit back about how to deal with this in PPro:

  • Jeff is right…

Other solutions allow for Inout and output of signal in PPro.

The Matrox products are the only real solution for genuinely enhancing creative performance during the editing session. They do this by leveraging a combination of their own chips plus those of a paired qualified graphics display adapter.

However, you do find yourself at the crux of an interesting point in PPro history. Adobe has been showing it’s forthcoming “Mercury Playback” Engine. This is Adobe’s implementation of leveraging graphics hardware to do more in real time in PPro. I would guess it would be in PPro CS5, as they’ve been talking about it and demonstrating it. This has not been formally announced, however.

This means that because your workflow is essentially filed based (.m2t) there is no need for signal capture and output. If the Mercury playback engine uses the graphics hardware for acceleration one of the chief advantages of the current Matrox line gets reduced. I love Axio and RT.X2. compared to the long render times of the FCP suite I currently find myself in, I miss them a lot. But keep an eye on where things are going and spend your money wisely.

    Hope that helps,

    Hi Eric…

ok…perhaps I’m simply crazy….I can’t believe I would have done it wrong in the 3 rimes I tried it, but maybe I did….OR my material is not DV (or framed based media)…I’ll triple check.

Thanks for your help so far.

    Hi Eric….

Can you give it a shot with DV?

    I think that’s what I tried with…

BTW….I think it did exclude the unused sources…

But it trimmed nothing…and made nothing offline.

    Thanks,

Rule of thumb with any of this stuff it take the capture and convert it to a format optimized for PPro.
I’m sure there are any number of utilities out there that might do it.
You could try even exporting it from a premiere pro timeline then editing with the exported file.
Just because it won’t play in real time in PPro, doesn’t mean it won’t export ok.

    hope that helps…

    I find:

    1) clearing the clip list from the source viewer
    2) turning off picons and waveforms on the timeline

are two methods that seem to help
