My best guess is to convert the video to a more standardized codec.
Just because something is recognized by the OS, doesn’t mean PPro will necessarily interpret it correctly.So something that would perhaps batch convert clips to Microsoft DV codec would likely be a good choice based on the start point of your source material from VHS.
Try it with one. If that works convert them all.

So you nest the proxy as a the top layer in your comp in AE?
That’s interesting….I hadn’t thought of that.
Certainly much cleaner in your PPro sequence.
But you will still have your issue in PPro…where as in my case…you liklely wouldn’t…
I’ve not seen renders just unlink in PPro…
Only if the clip or sequence is modified in some meaningful way in PPro…sorry I can’t help with that…

Can’t say that I have experienced that. What I would suggest, though, is that you leave your dynamic linked comp in the sequence (disabled), but render a file from AE anyway and cut it into the sequence.
In this way, you can still get back to the comp and makes changes as necessary, but you don’t have the overhead of having to deal with potentially heavy render times in PPro over and over again.

I built a spreadsheet that goes by destination, lists clients associated with each destination, formatting, naming and compression specs (as well as login info, etc)
Then I built template sequences that match the formatting.
I just dupe the sequence and rename, and cut the material into the template.
then I export reference QT’s and throw them on the droplets….
oh well…
Least I know somebody else things this is a drag too! 🙂

I love droplets! They do help with encoding and delivery of FTP based material.
Part of our problem is the formatting on the front end and delivery to web portals on the back end.
Some ppl need Bars and tone and slate, some not, various legnths.

What compression was used in Ulead?
Sounds like it’s something PPro doesn’t understand.

try exporting as FCP XML
then he can import that into his CS4….

Sorry didn’t realize this was an HDV captured on a Mac.
Apple handles this differently from PC.
They’ll need to export it as a qt codec you can handle or do the FLV export on the Mac side.
