XML, while better than EDL is pretty basic translation of sequence information.

Consider that Color correction usually happens in a filter.
As opposed to something like scale, position, rotation and opacity which are attributes of the clips themselves.

So in that sense you’d need to start cross translating filters….not impossible, but a bit more of a mountain to climb….code wise

so that’s probably why you are not seeing it in the translation, (yet?)

If you want to pass color corrected clips….maybe take the step creating color corrected source and then using that as the basis of the edit? that way if you partner is using the same source you’ll both be seeing the same thing.

    not ideal….but workable…

    that help?

Why not build the animation in the main timeline and then nest the selected items?

I don’t think you can. Your workflow here is a little unusual.

But if you park your timeline cursor on a marker in the parent sequence and then double click the daughter sequence clip to open it, are you then parked at the right location in the daughter sequence? If so, then just mark the daughter sequence.

    OR

    1) Save a copy of the parent sequence.
    2) Open the copy and remove all the material that’s on timeline. You should that the sequence markers remain.
    3) Open the original daughter sequence select all the material…
    4) Paste it into the copy of the parent sequence that yo made.
    5) Line up the material in the sequence with one marker and the rest should fall in to place relatively.
    6) Finally use this new sequence as the daughter sequence.

    Does that help?

    Hey Eric….

    without getting too crazy….

Could you not set up a Bootcamp partition on your Mac, throw a proper cross platform compatible NVIDIA gfx card in there and get a similar result?

I like your well thought out and expressed argument. 🙂

September 19, 2010 at 4:38 pm in reply to: Clip Markers with editing notes that move with clip?

    Hiya…

    I stand corrected.

While you can add clip markers, there is no comment function, on the clip side.

A yucky workaround is to nest the clip.
Add marks and comments in the nested sequence as sequence markers.
In the main timeline this will then appear as a “clip mark” and appear within and move with the clip.
However, you will have to enter the nest to review the comments.

It’s stinky, but it’s better than no option at all.
I would suggest making that feature request, my guess is that is an easy one to implement.

Can’t you double click a clip from the sequence to load it into the source viewer and add markers to it there? you should then be able to add comments to those markers as well.

These should then be clip markers that will move with the clip, as opposed to sequence markers which are based solely and locked in sequence time.
