we do loads of car spots in Motion from beginning to end.

I can say without hesitation that the text engine in motion slows renders immensely.

for our disclaimers blocks, I will routinely save those items out as Stills with alpha after I set them and place the images in the comp and mute the original texts objects (in case I need to go back and edit)

this is apparent if you have shadows, edges, and what not applied in the object.

having to calculate essentially the same information over and over again is pretty wasteful…and motion is not that good at it to begin with.

so if what’s happening within the text element is basically static and then you are manipulating the group…

follow this practice and you will see your render times drop dramatically…

Yes…it simply means that your source video and your destination sequence aren’t the same resolution.
The important thing is what type of file, disc or tape are you trying to deliver…that’s the important thing..not the windows being different sizes.

It is possible to have source material of various resolutions in your project.

These will be displayed in their various aspect ratios when viewed in the left source viewer.

Your sequence is a fixed resolution generally based on the type of deliverable out you’ve selected in your sequence.

This is why they can be different at times.

I think it has to do with the fact that in an HDV stream, each frame doesn’t exist as it’s own entity….
You have some full frames and then some information about changes between frames…

Just to clarify…

HVR-Z5 is an HDV cam.

So you Cut with DV based footage, then want to recapture and replace with the HDV native source?

noone at Adobe would believe me….but I ran into this problem couple of years ago.

You can not batch capture HDV and get matching source frames. The reported time code will match, the video frames will not and it will be off by varying amounts on every edit.

Sorry….but that’s the way that it is.

Export a mixdown of your DV edit and place it on a high video track of your recapture timeline.

recapture your edit with handles.

visually match your edits by slipping each clip and compare to the reference video, by muting and un muting the edit to compare.

What is you windows desktop mode?

Spanned or Dual View.

(if the premiere Pro splash comes up across the bezel then it’s spanned)

quit PPro, change it to Dual.

Re-open…

Note that this may result in video playback on inly one monitor (if your using a ATI card).

That’s interesting that Matrox has moved the CC plugins to the Max option.

I had asked them if they had considered doing non rt.x2/axio version of the plug-ins, because I like the tools regardless of their real time capabilities…
