Add parent sequence marker to daughter sequence

I don’t think you can. Your workflow here is a little unusual.

But if you park your timeline cursor on a marker in the parent sequence and then double click the daughter sequence clip to open it, are you then parked at the right location in the daughter sequence? If so, then just mark the daughter sequence.

OR

1) Save a copy of the parent sequence.
2) Open the copy and remove all the material that’s on timeline. You should that the sequence markers remain.
3) Open the original daughter sequence select all the material…
4) Paste it into the copy of the parent sequence that yo made.
5) Line up the material in the sequence with one marker and the rest should fall in to place relatively.
6) Finally use this new sequence as the daughter sequence.

Hi Alex,

Thanks a lot for your response. The first tip does not work for me: the timeline cursor does not point to the right place when I double click the daughter sequence clip to open it. Too bad, that would actually be great.

The second tip works, but it’s a little involved.

I’m new to premiere and trying to streamline my workflow as much as possible. You mentioned that I want to do is unusual. Could you expand on that (should I set up my project differently to achieve similar results, i.e. synchronizing clips?).

Why not build the animation in the main timeline and then nest the selected items?

Hi there,

It may be too late, but here it is:

1. Duplicate your sequence.
2. Open the duplicate (daughter sequence) and delete the media content (except the markers, because this is what you need)
3. Export/import a short clip with the settings you need for the daughter sequence OR import an existing clip with the required settings
4. Drag the clip into the timeline and select ‘Change sequence settings’ from the pop-up message ‘Clip Mismatch Warning’.
5. The daughter sequence has the markers from the parent
6. Copy/paste the content from the parent OR just drag the parent sequence to the daughter timeline – I’d use the second option, since in my case, I need to scale down the media from HD to SD, and I can do it at once, not clip by clip.
