Sounds like a plan; would striping two PCIe SSD devices like Intel 910 series (up to 2GB/s read speeds each) work for you?

My client uses ARC-1882x, CR-16E (which uses your expander) and 12 WD Reds in RAID6 – for about three weeks now. Tested the hell out of them too – was worried about WD Reds not being certified for sets larger than five drives. So far so good.
These controllers and expanders are in a lot of arrays all over the place so if this was a consistent problem, we’d have heard of it.

Intel RST (Windows only), high-end NAS and SAN appliances; on a low end – some host adapters (Addonics AD2SAHSSD).
Don’t believe there’s anything mid-range for the Mac yet.

I’d rather investigate potential bottlenecks and improve the array’s speed by using more/ faster drives, faster connectivity. Caching primarily works to improve response and IOPS numbers, not transfer rates of large files.

Highly unlikely.

One of the common setups: both media and projects on a RAID5 volume, routine backups to external drives.

Areca ARC-1213-4x/1223-8x – $500/600. There’re others – this is the best.

Not me – and yes, I can only imagine. Congrats on pinpointing the culprit (expander).

The reason for the OP in this thread is your request on that community.
Hope that eases your concerns. Piracy and stealing BMD graphics was the last thing on my mind when creating that page and community – I was doing it purely out of my desire to explore Google+ resources and putting them to good use.

Whoever maintains that page and community isn’t making any money off of it, so I am not sure why you’re having such negative feelings about it.

Both sites (and their countless online siblings) appear to be frauds.
No physical address listed on either site, not even a phone number. Really?
The clear giveaway from their FAQ:
“Is there a need to register on the manufacturers website?
As we sell OEM programs, we have already registered our software and so there is no need for you to do this again.”
That’s BS. Also, I don’t believe Adobe sells OEM licenses any more. Also, there’s no such thing as a 32-bit edition of Adobe CS Master Collection. Some apps are 32-bit only, some – 64-bit only, and in general, CS6 requires a 64-bit computer.
