December 6, 2016 at 1:21 am in reply to: looking for off-shelf PC tower for Premiere Pro in LAI believe Motion Media and DZ Solutions provide turnkeys.
What kind of export times are you getting now, and on what kind of a system? (Whoever ends up setting you up with a tower may want to optimize it for your specific needs – usually a balance of CPU power and storage speed.)
Any idea of the budget range?

FWIW, the problems disappeared after one of the servers was off-lined. The server was HP 360 G8 with a quad-port 331FLR NIC. I’ve seen other people having issues with that NIC, however our problem was really bizarre, a perfect storm of seemingly unrelated circumstances that would not be easy to reproduce.

Wish it was that simple… They’re sitting idle in the server room at 65 degrees. If anything, they’re freezing! 🙂
Tracked it to spikes in network traffic – and only 2012 Mac Minis are affected – regardless of the physical location – as long as they’re wired to the network.
Will try WiFi. Also looking to borrow someone’s 2014 Mac Mini for a couple of days to test – so far no luck. Suspect it’ll behave better.
Thanks for trying to help.
(Getting enterprise support from Apple? You serious? :))

Getting this message where?
Put the old drives in, and everything OK?
Tested the new drives on a different system to ensure they’re readable and in good shape?
Have the manual for the box? Do they have anything on initializing? JBOD mode?

Yes it will. Haven’t tried it myself on this specific box, but have tried on similar ones.

It’s orange on your post! …and blue on mine…
Thanks Tim!

February 11, 2014 at 11:36 pm in reply to: Seeking suggestions on optimizing my new system for AE…Leave it on default for now, except set up your Global Performance Cache to SSD. Then monitor your system during heavy use for CPU and memory utilization, and it’ll tell you what (if anything) needs addressing.

Thanks. I am on CS6 and couldn’t get bitrates go past 80 and in some cases 50 and 40Mbs on MPEG and H.264 files. I’ll try it again.

Was the bug fixed in CS6 by any chance?

January 30, 2014 at 9:02 pm in reply to: Pulled RAID 5 drives have very slow read speeds. There’s a chance it’s USB 3.0 messing up things. In itself it’s fast, but the driver and overhead make the test less than clean. It’s possible the drives will perform as they should via SATA.
Put the “slow” drive on a SATA port and test it. Only after that – think of other possible issues.
