Right, I managed to find it. VirtualVTR
Has anyone used either this or Movie Recorder, mentioned above? What are the pros and cons?

If you transcode to Apple ProRes 422 you will not reduce the quality at all.
Regarding the MP4 files being held in individual folders, try using Spotlight on the master folder and searching for .MP4 then arrange the results by type. That way you can drag just the MP4 files in MPEG Streamclip.By the way, what were these files recorded with? If these are from an EX camera then you will either need Calibrated to play the MP4 files, or you can batch convert using either Sony XDCAM Transfer or Sony Log & Transfer plugin, both free downloads. Neither of these degrade the image either, they simply re-wrap the files as .MOV and maintain the XDCAM EX codec. This is quicker than converting to ProRes.

Hi Ady,
If you’re talking about saving each frame as its own separate still image, do the following:
File > Export > Using Quicktime Conversion
Then select ‘Image Sequence’ under the Format drop-down menu. Choose the settings you want and the destination then click Save.

This is just the way FCP works. I’ve mapped my keyboard so that the main number keys (the ones at the top of the keyboard) toggle auto-select for each corresponding track – so pressing ‘1’ toggles V1, ‘2’ toggles V2 etc.
The number keys on the right of the keyboard still work seperately for timecode entry etc.All the best,

Hi Rodrigo,
Download the Sony Log & Transfer plugin and then just use Log & Transfer in FCP to import the files. You can’t import the Quicktime .MP4 files directly into FPC without a plugin so FCP ‘re-wraps’ them inside a .MOV container.
Sony XDCAM Transfer does exactly the same thing. If you’ve already used you need to find the folder when your new files were saves, and import those into FCP, i.e. not what’s inside the BPAV folder.

Hi Ben,
This would be a handy feature, and is something I’ve spoken to the people who make Final Cut Assistant. Yet to be implemented so maybe if more people bugged them about it we could see it happen.
Using AppleScript as the poster below suggests is good for those who know how. For people like me… we need plugins doing it for us!
Aside from that I’d go with the ‘Project Template’ idea.All the best,
