Is there any way to set up a project template in final cut, so that way every time you launch the program or launch a new project the same folder setup and sequences appears? This would be really helpful :)…thanks

How about making a project just the way you like it, saving it as “project template”, then when you want to open a new project open that project and then save as “Ben’s new project”. Works for me. I nearly always open an old project, ditch the stuff I don’t want and then save as “x”. You need to save it before it autosaves of course otherwise you will find your self getting dusty in the attic/vault.

Haha thats what I’ve been doing in the meantime, I am primarily a AE animator and I have a script for ae that will open my project preset every time AE opens, and I was hoping something like that was available here…i guess its just laziness on my part, but I call it efficiency 🙂

You can make an Apple Script that creates folders, etc. Include a copy command and then you can “save as: paste” in FCP.

    Hi Ben,

This would be a handy feature, and is something I’ve spoken to the people who make Final Cut Assistant. Yet to be implemented so maybe if more people bugged them about it we could see it happen.
Using AppleScript as the poster below suggests is good for those who know how. For people like me… we need plugins doing it for us!
Aside from that I’d go with the ‘Project Template’ idea.

    All the best,

Keep your plugins to a minimum for sure. Just more to reinstall everytime you rebuild your system. If it can be done at the finder level all the better. I used to do the template thing, but it seems pretty simple to make a new bin when I need one. But a template that includes stuff like bins for stock media and music that remain on your drive is a good plan.
