    Ok, thanks.

Though I think Avid needs a re-design, no need to be so complex in the cut and paste world.

    Cheers

    Michael,

    Thanks for this it worked.

I need to have the matte and greenscreened segment move though and this is proving difficult. The green screen part is a model moving from right to left on screen and scaled slightly to fit in with the background footage. However when I applied the move and scale to the new top layer, the matte moved but the girl did not. When I went back a few stages and animated both the girl and the matte (ie animate the spectra matte, write down the position and scale parameters and put the EXACT same numbers into a resize on the new layer to match the movement of the flattened matte) the two don’t move at the same time and double edges appear.

It seems as though the resize and Specra Matte parameters are not exactly the same.

cool, thanks – really handy that collapse tool.

Is there an Expand tool as well?

  • Thanks for replying.

I discovered that even though I was picking black for the border, Avid was setting the Luminosity of the colour higher than zero – hence a slightly grey border.

As for the overlap, I moved the crop by 1 wherever it occurred and the problem magically vanished – must be a Line issue though I would have expected that to happen on horizonal lines (ie at the top and bottom of each cropped PIP) and not vertical.

  • All the other user settings have this problem now 🙁

I’ve got AE too – might give that a go if I can’t get your method to work.

    Thanks for the advice

    Gary,

I hope you’re still being notified from this post!

Have gone through your instructions, thanks very much for those – learnt a few little tricks, esp the “Show transform Widgets” tool.

Your method works well however I was trying to do a transition glow between two shots on one of the PIPs. When I applied the dissolve glow using your system the same problem occurred and the glow was appied to all three PIPs.

I could ramp each effect, the end of the first up to 100% glow and the beginning of the next down FROM 100% – seems a bit long winded though.

    any thoughts?
