You really need more RAM, 1.5G is the minimum for these apps.

It’s all about quality. Compressor has more control. Why sacrifice this for a percieved speed advantage?

I always use mpeg2 files that have been compressed outside of DVDSP. This gives me more control over the transcode.
One proviso, for composited menus, let DVDSP create the file, else it will be recompressed, not good for quality.

These black borders are in the overscan areas for Canon cameras.
You will see them in your NLE system, but TV crops these out. Set normal presets if the delivery is via TV.

Check to see the videocard RAM, order the top as a custom build, or you’ll miss with Motion.
Also a LaCie fire-Wire card will give you another F-W bus, = no dropped frames for DV capture to F-W drives.
