You need a self-contained QT file, current settings, do not re-compress all frames. (uncheck)

With the first clip you pull into the time-line, FCP will offer to match the sequence settings. This will lock that sequence to those settings. Any subsequent addition that does not have the same specs will cause the render bar to appear.

check the Apple website, the 17″ has way more potential.

Max out your budget, get the most power and RAM that you can afford, and check out the port availability for expansion. You will get more time and versatility from a 17″ MBP.

Just jumping in, 24p has no field order, so why mark as lower?

How about using a borrowed a DV camcorder, or a cheap one from e-bay?
