Thank you for this answer. I installed AE7 (along with the rest of the Production Studio) last night and had this exact issue. I updated the drivers as suggested and the problem is went away imediately.

    Thanks again.

Is this the trial version you are testing? I have heard that native HD(V) editing is not available in the trial. No personal experience of this mind, just reading forums.

Does downconverting in camera to SD work ok?

I understand that Premiere pro 2 (and so I assume this equates to Production Studio as well) will install along side premier Pro 1.5.

I’m aware that the Matrox drivers are not ready yet and so was intending to keep PPro 1.5 installed until for use in Matrox mode until the drivers are ready.

is this what others are doing?

Well, I have pretty much decided to do exactly that.

I currently have PPro1.5, Audition 1.5 and Encore 1.5 that came with my Matrox Rt.X100.

I look at the upgrade as “It’s about time I invested in After Effects and Photoshop” so if I do the Premier pro to Prodction Studio upgrade then I can think of it as cost effective upgrade route.

I’m just left with the thought of an overly expensive upgrade to Premiere Pro 2.5 in a year’s time when that’s maybe the only tool I’ll really need to upgrade.

All I have to do now is wait for stock. It seem the Adobe warehouse is empty over here in the UK.

One other quick question though. What is the HDD footprint for the Production Studio Premium? I did read somewhere (and I can’t find it again) that if youinstall everything (incuding all optional assets) it will require some 15Gb of HDD. I would rpefer toplace assets (Loopology disk?) elsewhere so what is a realistic footprint for the install.

The issue being thatif 15Gb is really needed then I need to get working on re-sizing my C partition cos I have only about 8Gb free right now.

Yep, that’s the set I have. All .cel files, thousands of them. The zip sizes correspond to the one I created for Willie for download last night.

Willie, as these links are the same as the ones I was producing for you I’ll trash them from my web space and let you pick up the definitive articles direct from Adobe and save my web space. ok?

My package (1.5) came with a program disk and a seperate “loopology” disk crammed full of loops. I presume you mean this disk.

Not sure what the rules are on distributing the disk but depending on where poeple are and if it’s allowed then I’m happy to copy the disk for you. I’m in the UK.

Interesting stuff. So you’ve purchased a seperate Cineform product and have no issues. Sounds like the extra purchase is certainly necessary then.

I’m just tryting to cut a corner here I guess. I need to identify some play time and download the 14 day trial version and see if it solves the problem.

    Thanks for the input.

May 13, 2005 at 7:58 pm in reply to: Premiere Pro 1.5 and HDR-FX1 HDV

    Steven,

I’ve found that the most painful thing about editing in HDV in Premiere Pro 1.5.1(from the little tiny bits I’ve done with my new FX1E) is the export time. Espceially as, up till now, I;m used to editing using teh Matrox RTX100 so typically get real time export.

e.g. I’ve just exported a 52 second clip in WMV9 format and it took abotu 19 minutes using my 3GHz P4. My question is will Aspect HD improve the export timings or does it just help the editing workflow?

I asked the same thing in my early days. Read the thread at

    https://www.creativecow.net/forum/read_post.php?postid=109988093675433&forumid=23&archive=_2004|1|0

    It helped me a lot.
