The in-app updates no longer work. Download the latest version from the GenArts support website:

    https://www.genarts.com/support/downloads/particleillusion/standalone

Note that you may need to get a new serial number in order for this to work. If so, email support at genarts dot com.

If you’re having trouble with emitter downloads too, get them directly from the wondertouch site:

    https://www.wondertouch.com/default.asp?loadContent=emlibs_30.asp

    (hope that link works)

I suggest going to the wondertouch website and downloading the emitter library files directly, then unzipping them yourself into the “Emitter Libraries” folder. Alternately, there’s an option in the AutoUpdate dialog that lets you download only and doesn’t try to install. It’s that install step that is failing.

Actually, you probably have all of the .zip files already — you just need to manually unzip them into the “Emitter Libraries” folder. Check the AutoUpdate dialog for details on where those .zip files are going.

Oops, you’re right! It was Eclectic 02 that was just released. I had a copy/paste error when I updated the thumbnail images page.

No, there are still a few Pro Emitter libraries to release — four more to be exact. 🙂

Ah, maybe I forgot to post about them? Those were the Q4 2013 libraries.

Eclectic 01 contains what may be my favorite emitter of all time: vbloom 01 (or something like that). It’s the blue, space nebula kind of thing. Love it!

Can you send me one of the TIF images you rendered and one of the JPG ones too? Send it to alan at genarts dot com.

The “horizontal resolution” is 35dpi and “vertical” is 20dpi — that’s the problem. You need whatever application you want to use these with to ignore those settings — there’s no way to change it in pI. (I don’t know why pIRender is doing that). Did you try saving as TGA?

It looks like the pixel aspect ratio might be set incorrectly by pI when saving that. If that’s the case, then how you view the image makes all the difference. Are you viewing the image only in Photoshop, or using something else too?

You can fix by having PS ignore the pixel aspect ratio (the pI images are always square pixels). You could also try saving in a format that doesn’t save pixel aspect ratio information, like TGA or JPG (I think they both don’t save PAR).

Use the Save Output (aka “render”) button to create a movie or image sequence. The File – Save menu only saves the project file so you can load it later.

November 22, 2013 at 7:21 pm in reply to: pI is an FX. In Sony Vegas Should I add it as an FX?

I just don’t understand the question, not being an experienced Vegas user. What are the other options if it’s not applied as an effect?

In After Effects you apply particleIllusion to a solid or to an adjustment layer. I just don’t know the choices in Vegas, or why you’re asking. Are you thinking that one way of applying it gives better performance than another?

I’d like to help, but you’re not giving me enough information for me to understand.
