Whenever you’re loading a video and are having trouble, here’s a good thing to try:
1) Create a new project in particleIllusion.
2) Add a simple emitter, no background movie or image
3) Render an output AVI using your preferred codec
4) Create a new project in particleIllusion
5) Load the AVI you created in step 3 into a layer
6) If it doesn’t work, repeat the whole process using a different codec.This will let you know if there are any codecs that particleIllusion “doesn’t like”.

The velocity property controls how fast a particle moves. I’m not sure what you’re asking.

You’re running the latest version. This worked at one time, but now is not? Did you do an update using AutoUpdate from within pIllusion, or did you install 3.0.8.1 initially?

It’s not clear if you know this or not, but only one library can be loaded at a time. This video covers it:

These are all great suggestions, but for the most part they’re particle image projects, not emitter projects. Want better lightning? I need a wide variety of useful lightning images to use as sprites. Flames? Same thing — need animated flames images. Footprints, handprints, blood splatter: all the same. Images.
I’m not an artist. I’m not a Photoshop master. I don’t have access to 3D or other rendering tools to generate a lot of these images, nor do I have the time to do so.
So unfortunately, most of these suggested effects are going to have to wait until I can collaborate with an artist who can generate the images for me, or until *you* (anybody reading this) contributes images that I can work into emitters.

If you can tell me how to export Motion 3 tracking data to the clipboard or a text file, I can tell you if it’s useable by pIllusion, or what needs to change to get it working.
I just don’t know how to export the tracker data from Motion, or if it’s even possible.

Select mode is for selecting things on the stage. Add mode is for adding emitters to the stage.
When in add mode don’t drag — just choose your emitter from the library and click once in the stage window.
