Usually I suggest the following when you get a -10:

    1) Restart the computer. Sometimes that clears the error.

    2) If you’re using iDisk, eject it (whatever the terminology is). Some users have reported that iDisk interferes with the activation.

    3) Last thing to do is delete the Users/Shared/Ticket/particleIllusion.Ticket file and activate again at the website. (Do NOT delete the ticket file that’s in the particleIllusion application folder!)

Whenever you activate, record the “request number” and activation code.

  • Did you look in the “library backups” folder?

I’ve posted tips before about modifying libraries using the library manager — can’t remember if it was in this forum or in a video tutorial or both.

FYI: clicking the “X” to close a window is the same thing as clicking a “cancel” button if one exists.

The main thing when making many changes to libraries: save the file and close the manager often.

November 25, 2009 at 1:56 pm in reply to: Recommended BG Format/s to Minimize Slow FPS?

I rarely use WMV, as I think the pI3 support for it isn’t too great. If Vegas really can’t render PNG (for some reason I think I’ve done that before), then try DivX or HuffYUV for AVI. You may want to try that anyway based on the next sentence…

In pI3 if you’re using a non-DV AVI, try unchecking the “use new method of loading AVIs” option in Preferences.

If you’re using a 64-bit Windows OS, pI3 may just be really slow when using *any* bg images, as has been pointed out in other threads.

A couple of things to try:

    1) put another deflector close behind it, but don’t have the “corners” in the same place. (not a great solution)

    2) use only forces

Unfortunately, you’re trying to do something that pI3 does not have tools to do very easily.

None reported, other than a slowdown when using bg images/movies in the 64-bit version of Windows OSes (XP, Vista, 7)

    Vegas can load image sequences.

If you need AVI, download the lossless “Lagarith” or “HuffYUV” codecs and use one of those. (Google them)

Download again: yes. Use same activation number: No. Activation numbers are machine-specific.

The rule is that if you own both computers yourself and you are the only one who will be using particleIllusion on both machines, you can install on both. Otherwise, you need to purchase another license.

Now that I am aware of this issue, we will start investigating it. Believe it or not, you are the first to report this problem to us.

I don’t know when a solution will be available, or if it’s even possible to fix in 3.0, but we’ll do our best.
