Does anything happen at all? This may help:

Right click on ‘My Computer’ and choose Properties. In the Advanced tab/panel, select the “Settings” button in the Performance pane. Choose the “Data Execution Prevention” tab and switch DEP so that it is enabled only for essential Windows programs or add particleIllusion to the exception.

So it’s regular speed with no image, but super-slow when using a single png image as bg? That’s not right. Are you sure you’re running with hardware acceleration?

You should probably check for newer video drivers from your card manufacturer’s website. I’m pretty sure that’s the problem.

New computer does not mean it has new drivers. They could be really old.

It sounds like you’re painting a color in your images to use as the key color — if you’re doing that, why not just paint the mask and save it as alpha?

    Use Alpha!

You’re never going to get rid of the color fringing in particleIllusion. It’s keyer is just too simple.

Have you created more than one layer? Each layer is composed of a background image, and all of the emitters/particles are drawn on top of that.

    Don’t create a second layer.

There are free bullet hole emitters too. Open particleView, hit “S” to search, and search for “bullet”. You should have all of the emitter libraries installed first.

If you take a look at the clipboard data (paste into a text file), does it have a section that contains “extra” information? pI3 is looking for very simple data, and if there’s more complex data there that may be where things go wrong.

What if you do a very small track… like 30 frames or less? Does it still work for a while then go bad in pI3? If so, paste the clipboard data in a post here so I can see all of it.

Can you track a point with Mocha instead? (I’m not familiar with it)

What about using AE’s motion tracker — does that work for you or does it have the same problem in pI3? (As a test)

Are you going through the clipboard (using AE format) or through a text file?

When you say “it doesn’t work”, what do you mean exactly? What are you doing, and what specifically is happening?

  • Try deleting your search data. Look for a “wondertouch/search data” folder, which may be in your Documents folder, or possibly in “All Users/Application Data”. Delete that “search data” folder, then try running particleView again.

Yes, with the standalone versions of particleIllusion you can edit the colors of the particles.

If you download the trial version and look at the docs, you’ll see you can use either the “tint” functions, or modify the particle color gradients.

In trial mode you should see particles. When the trial period is up, you’ll see particles with a red X. Are you seeing the red X, or nothing?

Try turning “Fast Previews” to a setting that doesn’t use OpenGL and see if that makes a difference.

Try it on a solid too. It should work on footage, but maybe something weird is going on.
