You can also just work in pIllusion zoomed out (so you don’t need 5 monitors!!), then do your full-sized render in pIllusionRender. On Windows this can be quite slow. On Mac it’s much faster, but you may be limited to 2048 or 4096 depending on your video card.

Turning off particle preview is a good speed-up, but it won’t help as much if you’re using super emitters.

There should not be a 999-frame limit.

You can’t do it at the system level — you’ll need to use the Library Manager for this. This may take a lot of work you know, since there are over 1800 emitters, not counting the Pro Emitters. If you find that it is a painfully slow process, you may want to just wait until 3.5 is released (6 months or so) which should have a new library system.

What resolution is the video, and how long is it?

We don’t have a French version right now, but in the future, yes. Can’t say what version though. One of our resellers in France (https://www.swish.fr/ I believe) may have converted the manual for particleIllusion to French for their customers.

We are working on a Mac Intel version, and hope to have it ready in the next couple of months. It will be a free upgrade of course. No new features, just an Intel version.

October 27, 2006 at 11:22 am in reply to: AVI request format error

This issue is in the FAQ on our site. Here’s the info:

Unfortunately particleIllusion for Windows (both 3.0 and SE) does not
support DV AVI files directly at this time. That means that you need to
    either:

    1) Install a standalone DV codec such as the Mainconcept DV codec or the
Panasonic DV codec. Do a websearch for “Panasonic DV codec” and you’ll find
several sites that have that free codec with instructions for installing. **
    BEST OPTION **

    2) Convert your DV AVIs into a non-DV format such as DivX or uncompressed
AVI. This conversion would have to be done with another application. I’ve
checked into Rad Video Tools (https://www.radgametools.com), and it’s
perfect. Converts between several different formats, but the important thing
here is it will convert your DV AVI to another AVI format. It’s free.

  • Do all of your work with the stage zoomed out a little in pI3 (so you won’t get 1280 x 720), then when it’s finished (or at least most of the work is) use pIllusionRender to render at full size.

[RiW SFX] “Also, after making a logo disintegrate (thanks to Evlis’ fantastic tutorial for this) how do I make the particles form another logo?”

I’d try making both logos disintegrate, with the particles ending up in about the same place for both. Then reverse the second sequence in your favorite video editor. You may need to add a “filler” emitter to help hide the transition. (I’ve never done this, but this is how I would approach it.)

It will work in 6.5. I think I need to put up a pIllusion AE info page on our website. =)

There’s only one way to get to the catalog now: use the “hot topic” control in the upper right corner of the main part of our home page. This cycles through several different things — the catalog, a new customer hilight, the pro emitter, training dvds, etc. Get to the catalog announcement and click the “more info” button.

I was meaning to add a link to it on the emitter pages, but couldn’t decide where I wanted to put it and then forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder. =)

Our ISP has informed me that due to a recent onslaught of spam, they’ve blocked certain domains where much of the spam is being sent from. Your domain is one of them. I think this is a temporary solution, and I’ll see if there is some way to avoid it.

The easiest is to use a different email address.
