For some reason those controls are not being enabled in the Mac version (even in 3.0.5, the latest version).

Can you post a screengrab of what it looks like? (Or email it to wondertouch support).

I suspect that you’ve increased the size of some components (fonts or something else) and particleIllusion is not adjusting for that.

I’m no Mac superuser, but it’s something to do with those folders/files being flagged as “system” or something like that. So you can’t copy/paste them normally. Not sure why it allows you to option-drag them — all I know is that’s how I did it. =)

The output codec you’re using when creating the AVI (or QuickTime movie if you’re on a Mac) is the problem. Choose a modern codec (like Divx, xvid, or Huffy UV) and you’ll have no problems. You can find all of these for free download — just do a web search.

Your serial number (license key) is not the same as Init Code. Use your serial number at the authorization website to generate an Init Code.

It’s not difficult to get it working in Motion 3. If you had Motion 2 installed, then installing Motion 3 probably wiped out the wondertouch emitters, so you’ll need to install again.

First, make sure Motion 3 is not running.

    1) Install the wondertouch emitters again. They won’t show in Motion 3 yet.

    2) Copy the “wondertouch (large)” folder from the following source
    location:

    Users/Shared/Motion/Library/Particle Emitters/wondertouch (large)

Into the “Particle Emitters” location where your Motion 3 content was installed. If you installed in the default location, that is:

    Library/Application Support/Final Cut Studio/Motion/Library/Particle Emitters

    So you’ll end up with:

    Library/Application Support/Final Cut Studio/Motion/Library/Particle Emitters/wondertouch (large)

The easiest way to do this is to open up 2 finder windows, one pointing to the source folder and one pointing to the destination folder. Hold the option key while you drag the “wondertouch (large)” folder from one to the other.

If you have the medium or small emitter collections, the folder will be named “wondertouch (medium)” or “wondertouch (small)” instead.

  • If you’re trying to load a DV AVI file, you need to install a DV codec, or convert your video format.

DV codec is the best solution I think, but to convert and if you don’t have another app to convert with, see if this helps:

May 25, 2007 at 12:25 pm in reply to: Alpha Channel with AVI or QUICKTIME?

On Windows you need to output to TGA, PNG, or TIF. On the Mac version, you can output a QuickTime movie with alpha channel if you’re using a compressor that supports it (like Animation).

We’re working on a 3.0.2 update for Windows that will add alpha channel support in AVIs.

The demo of particleIllusion 3.0 does. The released version of pI3 does too if you contact support for an update.

particleIllusion SE demo does not, but contact support for an update to make it work. particleIllusion SE released version doesn’t either, but contact support for an update.

That’s crazy. I wonder why the form “bounced”? I’ll check into it. Any email address you contact us with is fine, as long as you include proof that you’re who you say you are.
