Somebody else running Leopard reported that context (r-click) menus items are off by 1. So you need to select the item below “New Layer” in order to get a new layer.

    We’re checking into it.

You’ll need to save the project file and render it with pIllusionRender (look in your pI3 folder).

We’re working on adding automatic integration with pIRender (like the Windows version 3.0.2 just released does), but it’s going to be a little while before we get that implemented on the Mac version.

November 6, 2007 at 11:44 am in reply to: PI 3.02 crashing, mis-rendering alphas

Quick fix for making deadline: You can “downgrade” to 3.0.1a using the 3.0.1a files on our downloads page.

[pixelpusher] “1) Alpha channels aren’t rendering correctly: the files render out, and the RGB is visible, but the alpha is ‘sheared’ like it’s been stretched diagonally, and no longer aligning w/ the RGB. It looks like tiger stripes. This happens w/ .png and .tga files. Have been trying turning off every possible feature, but it still seems to happen.”

What is the output size you’re creating?

Does this happen with pIRender too? (You can force pIRender to be used by ctrl-clicking the “Save Output” toolbar button.)

Have you tried rendering the same project to AVI (using a codec like Lagarith or Huffy UV that supports alpha)?

[pixelpusher] “2) Program hangs, or just suddenly crashes AFTER render. Either way, the program does not recover after a render. If it suddenly crashes, it happens when switching to another window, such as explorer.”

That’s a weird one. Probably OpenGL driver-related. Did these problems happen before the driver updates?

If those new drivers you’re using are beta drivers, go back to the latest drivers that are non-beta and see if that helps. Also, are you getting the drivers directly from NVidia’s site? If not, try those.

If you’re having trouble with the older updates, then just email support at wondertouch to get the full installer for the latest version.

November 6, 2007 at 11:36 am in reply to: Change Random seed?

You can’t access the seed value right now (and have not been able to in the past). The seed value is randomized when the emitter is added from the library.

So if the emitter has been modified at all from its library version, you’ll have to add it to a library temporarily (or a junk library), then use the “replace” function. Actually, I just tried this and it does not work — the emitter retains it’s seed value.

Only thing I can suggest is to tweak some values (number, velocity, or something else) to get the particles to “readjust”. If the emitter uses a non-zero preload value, changing that will work too.

November 6, 2007 at 11:22 am in reply to: Linux or Win64? Version

No longer true. Before 3.0.2 was released you needed to contact us for a version that worked in XP x64, but now 3.0.2 works in x64 and 64-bit Vista.

    Note that it’s not a 64-bit version though — it’s still a 32-bit version.

There is no Linux version at this time.

November 5, 2007 at 11:08 am in reply to: Crash when rendering in avi format

At what point does it crash? Do you get the codec-chooser dialog? If so, what codec are you choosing? (Try a different codec and see if it still crashes)

And please email wondertouch support so I can add you to the 3.0.3 beta test.

If pIRender works, then the workaround for now is to always use pIR to render — just ctrl-click the “Save Output” toolbar button and pIR will be used automatically.

Can you give me more details on your project? Is it every project, even one with no emitters? Here’s what I’d suggest. Do each step until one works and let me know what happens.

    1) Start with the project that doesn’t work. Remove any background footage and try again.

    2) Turn off motion blur, or switch motion blur types.

    3) Remove emitters (one at a time)

    4) Once you’re down to an empty project, and if it still doesn’t work, then change the stage size (resolution) until it works. 640 x 480 is a “standard” test case.

First, check ATI’s website and see if you really are using the latest. If you are, and they are beta drivers, try using the latest non-beta drivers they have.

The only other option is to switch off hardware acceleration in pIRender. It will be much slower but it will work.

I think that we may have a fix for this in the 3.0.3 beta version — email support at wondertouch dot com so I can add you to the beta test.
