You can save output to any drive you want. Not sure what you mean here.

This actually gets asked quite a bit. The easiest way is to use a separate emitter at the end. This emitter is a “single” particle with the text you want.

(like the cartoon “Mouse” emitter, but you use your text image instead).

I think somebody gave a more detailed explanation of how to do that in the forums here… so search the forums for “hold text” or something like that.

If you take a look at the docs on this topic, you’ll see that “intense” particles are not included in the alpha channel when you check “create non-intense alpha” (CNIA), and you need to use a special blending mode when compositing.

So you probably don’t need to use CNIA.

The automatic calling of pIRender didn’t make it into 3.0.6 — but it’s coming in the near future in 3.0.7.

In the meantime, if you can’t fit the output size you want in pIllusion itself (make sure you maximize pIllusion before rendering so it can make the stage window as big as possible) then you’ll have to save the project file and load it in pIRender manually.

pIllusionRender is installed in the same folder as particleIllusion.

My first thought is video drivers. Try running with software rendering (use the “run with software rendering” option in the Start – Programs – particleIllusion SE menu (may be in a ?troubleshooting” submenu there).

If that works fine, then it definitely is a driver issue and you should get the latest drivers from your card manufacturer’s website.

I’m not sure what you mean.

Can you give an example? Or post a link to an example image?

You always want to set zoom to 100% or you won’t get the output size you want.

By “maximize” I mean click the “maximize” button in the window title bar (between the “minimize” and “close” buttons in the window titlebar). Same for almosts every Windows application.

Email support at wondertouch dot com and we’ll take care of you (but maybe not until Monday).

The trial version of 3.0.3 works fully functional for 30 days, so you could use that if it’s urgent.

Glad you figured it out, and glad you posted as many details as you did.

Part of the issue seems to be that it sounds like you’re rendering part of the time in particleIllusion itself, and part of the time in pIRender. I suggest you maximize particleIlusion before you render, so it won’t need to use pIRender. pIllusion will first maximize the stage window to try to fit your output size. If it still can’t fit it, it calls pIRender.

I’m not saying that I think pIRender is bad, but we’ve only recently added hardware acceleration to pIRender, and there may be issues there (especially when using older drivers).

So render in pIllusion itself whenever possible for the least amount of pain.

No, they can be on the same layer. Try “run with software rendering” in the Start – Programs – particleIllusion 3 menu (maybe in the “troubleshooting” menu) and see if the problem goes away.

If it does, you need to get updated video drivers.
