Maybe if you switch to software rendering?

Or just render a single frame of the stage and open that in another app and grab from that? Or do a screengrab?

    Not sure.

  • I followed Aharon’s advice (in his excellent “Internet Killed the Video Star” training DVD from Creative Cow) and capture at 800×600 (or slightly larger when I need to get the emitter properties dialog on the screen), then do all zooming and panning in Adobe After Effects. That way I can control exactly where the zooms and pans happen and can add motion blur and smoother motion.

You can probably do similar with other applications (don’t need After Effects) but the key is it is done in post-processing, not in the video capture application.

Sorry, no. I’ve never based product releases around show dates. When it’s ready, it’s released. Besides we won’t be at NAB this year (too much work to do).

I’m not sure how easy that would be, as the most dense areas need to be colored differently, but in particleIllusion the most dense areas usually go white.

You could probably get the general motion you want in particleIllusion, but then you’d need to use After Effects or some comparable application to add a color filter to the output, based on luminance or something.

I don’t know if this is possible in AE or how exactly you’d do it, but it seems feasible.

    particleIllusion doesn’t install any codecs.

[Dean Murray] “It’s not easy to see which DV CODEC is being used”

If you have more than one DV codec, they should all show up in the codec list in particleIllusion — I’m not sure what you mean.

The “use audio from layer” option was removed in 3.0.2 (windows) but will be added back in 3.0.4. Until that time, you need to add the audio back in your video editing app.

Sounds like you may need to animate the Layer Offset. Take a look at the soccer ball tutorial that was recently posted in the forum to see what that’s about.

You can fake it to some extent, but it may not be easy. Use “size over life” to control that.

(Remember you’ll need to animate the logo coming apart, then reverse it in your video editor.)

It’s the codec that’s setting it to that size — is there a setting in the codec (use the “configure” button in the codec chooser dialog) that controls that?

If you can let me know where I can get that codec I can take a look, because other people are having this happen too.
