What’s this going to do to all the DSLR guys who spend their lives trying to get a DOF 3/4″ deep? When the trend runs back to Renoir-esque deep focus, the heads will begin exploding!

Yes, they indeed can be beveled. In Video Effects > Perspective > Bevel Edges you get that, with an adjustable (and keyframeable) lighting effect. Also in Perspective is “Basic 3D”, which gives you tilt, swivel, an optional specular highlight, and an adjustable distance to camera. Combine that with motion on the X axis in the Motion tab and you ought to be able to get what you’re after.
Experiment with it a bit to see what looks like a good fit. Shouldn’t really take terribly long to find something that feels right.

Just as an experiment, I loaded a still, scaled it, beveled the edges, and played lighting effects. Everything is keyframeable.
The only limitations will be your taste and judgment.

Actually, Scott, it’s pretty simple as I see it.
If I would not like the tone of that piece if I saw it directed at a member of my own immediate family, I think I’d tell them to find someone else.
Maybe you’re a bit more mercenary than that.

A good tripod is an investment. It’s not something to skimp on, as a too-light pod will deflect and lash back on pans and tilts, sometimes bounce in response to nearby motion, and in general make for unpleasant results.
Spend more – when was the last time you found yourself wishing you had not got something quite as good? You’re not buying it for this camera, you’re really investing in it for two or three cameras from now.
I am definitely not a fan of most Manfrotto heads, as their lower-priced units tend to have pan and tilt locks on the pan and tilt axes. This is mechanically terrible and to be avoided. Cartoni, Libec, Vinten, and Sachtler are all good. (I used to have a very low opinion of Sachtler, as it was possible to detach the wedge plate one-handed on their earlier models, which would make the camera falling to the ground a possibility – they have since corrected this mistake.)
Gitzo legs are heavy and awkward, and I dislike them for that reason.
Some years back, I got a very good deal on a Vinten I still have today. It’s taken a lot of use and still holds up. I’ve used all the others listed above, as well as some others.
Do not, under any circumstances, get a tripod that requires leveling by adjusting leg height. You’ll curse it every time you use it. the leveling ballhead (with a good, well-placed bubble level) is your friend.

There is an option of rendering an uncompressed AVI. The files are…rather large.

The problem might not be your video card so much as drive speed.

If your presenter is wearing a wireless lavalier, put a Y-adapter inline behind the receiver and run lines to both cameras.
It will probably work if you’re using a hardlined lav too. XLR Y-adapters are pretty standard things. You need a single XLR-F to two XLR-M to make this work.
