What is the best codec for mastering with PP? Avid has the DNX codec and FCP has Prores. I am looking for a codec that is native to PP that is as good as those two are in terms of transparent compression and loss.

Best way is to go uncompressed…..I don’t know for any losless codec for avi….maybe photojpg or highband h264 in quicktime can work for you….

There is an option of rendering an uncompressed AVI. The files are…rather large.

Thanks Alan, but I think Im sticking with Prores..its really the best of both worlds…great compression and small file sizes
