    Thanks Chris,

Yes I know about moving the texture as a complete unit. What I was hoping to do, and I’m sure I’ve done it before in c4d? is position one of the texture components, in this case the transparency bitmap (a different image to the colour channel)

You can do it in Max and I was hoping to the same here. I’m trying to sort out some materials that imported badly along with an *.obj model.

If it’s not possible to do this within a single texture, how about mapping two materials to the object, one with the colour channel mapped to the correct postion and the second defining transparency? I tried this with with colour and bump bitmaps but couldn’t get anywhere.

Failing all of this I guess I can jump through the hoops and do all the modifications in BP but not knowing that app very well, I was hoping for an easier solution.

    Thank you for your time

Not sure if I can get my hands on the camera.

The files were copied across from the P2 cards on a CardBus PC laptop. Each card copied individially and then transferred via a FAT32 HDD to the Mac.

    Thanks for your Help

Micheal, How does FinalRender work with c4d? Are you impressed? And what about comparative speed?

    the original poster did thanks.

He’s also still having trouble getting these files into 504!

I managed to get hold of the P2 cards and transferred all the files across, the card folder opens at the ‘import p2 footage’ request, and of the 32 files (Dont know what settings these were shot at, the camera is new to the inexperienced cameraman) about half actually built thumbnails but none import. FCP says ‘one or more p2 clips failed to import: probably incomplete or corrupt clips’

My guess is he’s trying to run before he can walk and these are HD clips, so the filename changing argument wont work.

It’s a shame there is little information about the clips in the browser, only a thumbnail, media start and media end.

Think I might just give up on this and wait for the 512 upgrade that I have on order.

    Thanks

    thanks guys,

Arrh Mike! ‘The P2 interface’ sounds like that what I need. What is it and will I be able to run it on my system – specs above.

There could be bandwidth problems if you expect too much from a single FW bus. Better choice would be adding another either 400 or 800 via a (cheap) PCI card.

November 27, 2006 at 10:53 am in reply to: Vegas render files

Hmmm, I take back what I said about FCP now.

After trying to transfer a self contained project from one drive to another, including the render files, I can’t find a way to induce Vegas into relinking and using the renders.

Am I expecting too much from Vegas do you think? Is it’s use of prerenders a bit flaky or should I be using them another way, like adding them to a render track via the ‘render to new track’ command.

I’d like to get these issues sorted as I’ve an SD uncompressed project coming up in the near future, and being a newbie to Vegas I need to decide whether to use it or something else to cut it on.

    Thanks for any advice,

    Alan

Thanks Jerry, it’s not really a workaround as I want a correct frame sequence to do a round trip to shake.

Weird though that it seems to work for everyone else, but my ‘vanilla’ PAL DV experiments fall over.

I guess sometimes you can get away with it.

Here in the UK the broadcasters get it wrong frequently. I watched an entire one hour episode of an early ‘Doomwatch’ programme last week on BBC4, made 4:3 in the seventies, and transmitted arced to 16:9 – very squissed!!

Nice try Edward, but no cigar!

Both project and ruler settings are SMPTE EBU 25fps

Any other ideas? Can you look at the sony script for me?

    Thanks Alan
